Betting Strategies for the Epsom Oaks
We take a look at some of the betting strategies for the Epsom Oaks in 2024 and explain how you can place a bet on the Oaks
Each Way
It’s often to see a big field line up in the Oaks and with often a short-priced favourite lining up then each-way betting is the way to go. Rather than backing the market leaders you could opt to place a bet on an outsider each-way and your selection would need to finish in the first three to gain a return, while some bookmakers could even offer a concession of four places on the fillies’ Classic.
Non Runner No Bet
Simply put, Non Runner No Bet is where you place your bet and if your horse doesn’t run then you get your money back. Your odds can often be a little lower if betting in a NRNB market, but you get the safety net of your money back if your selection doesn’t line up in the Epsom Oaks.
Forecast Betting
Betting a forecast means you have to pick out two selections and they have to finish first and second. If you opt for a reverse forecast then your two picks can finish either first or second in either order, or a straight forecast means you have to pick the 1-2 exactly.
Without the Favourite
Betting ‘Without The Favourite’ is popular in horse racing when there’s a really short priced favourite. The market on offer effectively takes out the favourite from the betting and makes up another book. If your selection finishes second to the favourite and you’ve placed your bet in the ‘Without The Favourite’ market then you win!

Epsom Oaks Trends & Historic Data
Aidan O’Brien has won the race seven times in the last 12 years, so the Ballydoyle supremo is certainly a man to follow and he’s sure to have a strong team heading to Epsom racecourse for this year’s renewal.
There have been two winning favourites in the last 10 years, but only one winner in the last decade has been priced over 10/1, so those at the head of the market can often be worth following.
When looking for vital Oaks clues then some of the races to watch out for as key trials are the 1000 Guineas, Musidora Stakes and Cheshire Oaks.
