Useful as 2yo (best on good to soft) but he has struggled in good handicaps at Newmarket the last twice; dropped 10lb in two starts; blinkers given another go (last of seven when tried in them previously); risky.

Successful three times (on AW and good to firm) this season; ran well at Newbury (1m4f, good) three weeks ago despite finishing lame; drying ground would be in his favour, as he finished last on both his outings on softer than good; raised another 3lb though.

All four of his runs at Ascot were over 7f, twice running creditably; that includes stable debut at the Royal meeting this term, before never dangerous behind Perotto at Sandown when trying 1m for the first time in over two years; bit to prove.

Well beaten at Goodwood 11 days ago and it was also good to soft ground when he was withdrawn here last month, on his only scheduled outing over 1m4f; ran respectably on penultimate start and has a good mark, but the new headgear (replacing recent cheekpieces) isn't the only question he has to answer.

Smart as 2yo on turf, particularly when runner-up in good 6f Listed race; this season did not get off to a good start but he looked more his old self when dropped to 5f in first-time hood (retained) at Doncaster in July (good to firm), moving smoothly past his rivals to win neatly; up 7lb in a better race but there is more to come from him.
