HIGH POINT only went down by half a length when a 14-1 third in a soft-ground 7f Epsom novice contest on his debut back ion August and was then outpaced the next twice, finishing fourth at Leicester (7f, good to firm) and fourth at Kempton (1m, Polytrack). The step up to 1m2f did the trick for the son of New Bay when he scored by half a length from Spceport (re-opposes today) on good ground at Windsor last time. A stiff 1m2f on soft ground will be ideal and had we backed all of his sire’s progeny over 1m2f or further on good or softer turf we’d have won 44 of our 211 bets (21%) and made a profit of £24.38 to a £1 level stake at SP. I’d have preferred a higher draw, but he has the early speed to get across and obtain a good pitch on the rail.
