Football-Preview-Generic-v3The Fourth Round of the Carabao Cup (League Cup) takes place this midweek, with sides looking to make it to the Quarter-Finals and the business end of the tournament. Below we take a look at a couple of the games in depth, along with a selected bet for each of the eight matches, with pricing from bet365

Manchester CIty v Wolverhampton Wanderers (Tuesday 8:00pm)

The big spending leaders of the Premier League and Championship meet in an intriguing match-up at the Etihad Stadium, with the visitors hoping to cause a shock.

Pep Guardiola’s Man City side have been in unstoppable form, unbeaten so far this season and winning the last eleven games played and scoring twelve goals in the last three games. Wolves are in excellent form, having lost just one game in the last eleven played. Summer signings have settled in well and will see this game as a test of how far they have come so far.

The City squad is so good, that even a full rotation is likely to give any opponent a tough test, especially at the Etihad and despite Wolves looking a strong side these days, I do not think they will have enough to stop the City juggernaut.

Chelsea v Everton (Wednesday 7:45pm)

An unusually leaky Chelsea take on an Everton side who find themselves in the bottom three at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening, in what will be an interesting match-up.

Chelsea’s 4-2 win over Watford ended a run of three games without a win, although defensive frailties have seen a usually solid Blues back line concede seven goals in the last three games. Everton’s season goes from bad to worse, with the 2-5 home loss to Arsenal, making it five matches without a win and just two wins in the last thirteen, with pressure mounting on Ronald Koeman after a Summer of big spending.

Everton have struggled against Chelsea in recent meetings, losing the last three with an aggregate score of 0-10 and even with Antonio Conte likely to rest some of his side, I cannot see where the Toffee’s can improve this record, barring finding the back of the net. A home win looks likely once again.
