NAP: Old News- 3.25 (15/8 generally)

Old News is a course and distance winner who comes here on the back of a good second last time out. He has won at this track off higher marks and the recent run suggests he is getting back to that form and should go in again.

This is desperately moderate and although a flakey case can be made for one or two, the selection really should be winning this with some to spare.

Today’s Racecards

Red Riding Hood – 3.10 Ascot (5/2 Generally)

Al Marmar – 3.45 Ascot (15/8 generally)

Red Riding Hood comes here with some fancy entries further down the line and should be more than up to scoring first time out on her way to better things.

The Daughter of Justify is in perfect hands in the form of Aidan O’Brien who knows had to ready one and the fact he has come across the Irish Sea for this opener suggests she will be ready to run a big race here.

Bet With Ascot EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes (GBB Race)

Al Marmar has run really well the last twice in tougher handicaps to sugges he can go in in this lesser company. He was fifth of 14 in a Class 2 handicap at York and comes back to the scene of his last victory here at Ascot.

This is calmer waters and it looks like a match race with Carolus Magnus. However that rival looks tricky to win with and its almost a year

Chapel Down Classified Stakes

Al Motasim – 6.20 Kempton (6/1 Bet365, 5/1 generally)

Al Motasim wouldn’t have to be a world beater to make an impression in this. Newcastle’s straight track was certainly not his bag last time and he was outpaced with a furlong to go.

However, he rallied well in the closing stages to get third and that suggested this trip to Kempton could be up his alley. William Buick is an eye-catching booking for Hugo Palmer who sends him all the way down here. If he takes to the track better the son of Lope De Vega can make his presence felt.
