GG.CO.Uk brings you the best in tips, thoughts and special enhancements for the sporting week, with our regular Midweek Sports Tips And Enhancements. It’s a very quiet midweek this time around, with a couple of EFL Cup semi-final first legs to hold some interest.
EFL CUP Semi-Finals: First leg
Manchester United v Hull City (8:00pm Tuesday)
Manchester United take on Hull City in the first semi-final of the week, with the form book very much in favour of the home side.
Man United are undefeated in fourteen games across all competitions, as Jose Mourinho’s side continue to look like top four challengers after an average start to the season. The form of Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have really pulled United to the next level, while the backline is finally functioning well, helping themselves to five clean sheets from the last eight games.

There may be some hope for Hull City, with new manager Marco Silva overseeing a win in his first match in charge, with an FA Cup win over Swansea at the weekend. Previous to the weekend’s victory, the Tigers had failed to win in their previous ten matches, as they sit at the bottom of the Premier League table.
I would not be surprised to see Hull “park the bus” at Old Trafford, with the vain hope of taking something back to the KCom Stadium in the second leg, so it will be interesting to see if Marco Silva does what is necessary tactically or play his own game. If he tries to take United on, I fear that the second leg will be a dead rubber, as Mourinho’s side will run riot. Man United to win -1 goal handicap.

Southampton v Liverpool (7:45 Wednesday)
In what is expected to be the more competitive of the two ties, Southampton welcome Liverpool to St.Mary’s, with the Saints knowing they must have a positive result at least, to take into the second match at Anfield.
Southampton’s form has come in dribs and drabs, with small unbeaten runs, followed by a bunch of poor results, with their tenth placing in the Premier League summing up their middling form. After a run of four games undefeated, the Saints have failed to win in the last four games played, losing three of them before a 2-2 draw at Norwich in the FA Cup last weekend.

Liverpool have been a revelation this season, especially going forward, as the side display the “heavy metal” football that Jurgen Klopp calls his style of aggressive, attacking play. The Reds have lost just twice all season and are currently on a run of seven games unbeaten.
The big loss from the game, will be Sadio Mane, who is on international duty, but Liverpool have plenty in the tank and are likely to welcome Phillipe Coutinho back from injury. Southampton will be without Jose Fonte, who has requested a transfer, which will cause problems at the back for the Saints. Liverpool should have too much for the Saints, but a goalless draw in the league meeting, the last time these sides met, will offer a crumb of hope for the home side. Liverpool to win and both to score
