Race 1 (12:00pm) HURRICANE GEORGIA
This Gordon Elliott runner has just a single victory in eight starts, which came at Downpatrick (2m 1m, yielding to soft) back in September, when 5.5 lengths clear of The Abbey, with the rest a further 10 lengths clear. After placing fourth of five in a Grade 3 contest at Roscommon, he bounced back at Punchestown, with a second of six in a Grade 3 - Novice Chase, behind Embittered. Makes handicap debut here and has a huge chance.
Race 2 (12:35pm) FIL DOR
Another Gordon Elliott runner, who won on his only start so far, at Down Royal (2m, soft), when walloping the opposition by 16 lengths some 29 days ago. Massive amount of progress expected after that dominant performance and the logical selection in this eight runner contest. Odds on favourite, with the rest around 4/1 bar.
Race 3 (1:05pm) THREE STRIPE LIFE
The Elliott runners continue, with another from the County Meath based yard. A winner on debut at Navan in a pro/am bumper back in January, he then placed fourth in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham (2m, good to soft), 8.25 lengths behind Sir Gerhard. He then returned to take seasonal and hurdle debut spoils over C&D twenty-five days ago, when 6 lengths clear of Hans Gruber, keeping on well under hands and heels. More expected and should feature amongst the leading lights.
Race 4 (1:35pm) CAPE GENTLEMAN
Five wins and three places in eleven starts under Emmet Mullins and has been in strong form since seasonal return last month, winning at Punchestown (2m 1f, good), before sealing a double at Cork (2m 4f, heavy) ina Grade 3 contest four weeks ago, easing to a 14 length win, ahead of Run Wild Fred. A second in a Grade 2 at Punchestown (2m, yielding), saw them some 21 lengths behind Riviere D’etel, but they should have more than enough to vie for the victory in this contest.
Race 5 (2:05pm) THE DABBLER
This 8-yo was a seventeen race maiden with a decent amount of consistency, before finally grabbing his first win at Ballinrobe (2m 7f, good) in a beginners chase back in August. He clearly liked the taste of victory and went on to make it a double, with a win at Gowran Park (3m 1f, good) at the beginning of October, with himself and Clondaw Secret 14 lengths clear of the rest. A second on handicap debut at Galway, continued the strong run of form and should have more to offer at this longer trip.
Race 6 (2:40pm) HONEYSUCKLE
Henry De Bromhead’s Honeysuckle makes a welcome return to action, as the Cheltenham and Irish Champion Hurdle winner looks to continue their unbeaten run of twelve successive victories. The Rachael Blackmore ride goes in as odds on favourite, with the next best some 7/1 bar. As foregone conclusions go, this is as good as a punter can get and barring any surprises or errors, she should extend her run here.
