Race 1 (12:00pm) TUNE THE CHELLO
Useful Henry De Bromhead charge, who has won three and placed in five of the dozen runs so far, with the last of those victories coming at Limerick (2m 6f, good) back in July, when fending off Reine Free by a length in a Mares beginner chase. She followed that with a second in the Lexington Chase at Tramore a month later, before unseating her rider at Listowel in September, hampered by a loose horse, when challenging in second. Returns from a break refreshed and on recent form offers a major challenge for the spoils.
Race 2 (12:35pm) FALCON EIGHT
Four wins in ten starts, including the victory in the Chester Cup on his penultimate start, back in May at Chester (2m 2f, good to soft), when 2 lengths clear of the The Grand Visir, He ended his flat career, with a disappointing run in the Queen Alexandra Stakes in June and now returns from a six month break for this hurdling debut. Dermot Weld is a canny trainer and clearly sees potential over timber here and thus goes in as our selection.
Race 3 (1:10pm) ROYAL KAHALA
This Peter Fahey runner is a pretty consistent sort, with three wins and three places in eight starts so far, although the last of the victories saw them seal a treble at Fairyhouse (2m 2f, heavy) in a mares hurdle, when 5 lengths clear of Hook Up. She has since placed second in Grade 3 and Listed contests, both over 2m 2f on soft ground, finishing just half a length behind race rival, Dysart Diamond some 45 days ago, closing in at the finish. Plenty of promise here and could take the spoils too.
Race 4 (1:45pm) ONTHEROPES
Winner on the soft, when taking a maiden win at Tramore (2m 5f, soft) back in April 2019, but had to wait six races until this October, to add a second career victory, winning the Munster National at Limerick (3m, soft), beating A Wave Of The Sea by 2.25 lengths. Willie Mullins’s charge placed fourth of twenty-one in the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury last month and looks set to be in the mix here. The yard won this race last year with Monkfish.
Race 5 (2:20pm) SHARJAH
Another from the Mullins yard, is Sharah, who has eight wins in twenty-six appearances so far, with the latest coming in the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown (2m, good to yielding), when beating Zanahiyr by 3 lengths, with stablemate Echoes In Rain a further 12 lengths adrift in a three runner contest. The three meet again here and the favourite has a huge chance to make it four wins in this race and emulate istabraq and Hurricane Fly.
Race 6 (2:55pm) CLIFTON WARRIOR
Another of Henry De Bromhead’s runners, who looked promising on debut back in March at Punchestown, before returning to action at Thurles (1m 7f, good) last month and winning a maiden hurdle by 8.5 lengths in a strong display. Makes handicap debut here in this contest and will no doubt be open to further improvement off the back of that last trip. Strong claims and another who can take selection who can take the spoils.
