Race 1 (1:00pm) HAIL SEZER
Only victory came back in July of last year, when taking the spoils over C&D (good to firm), beating Lucky Beggar by a length, before missing out by half a length to It Just Takes Time at Ripon (6f, good to firm) a month later. He has made useful runs in two starts since returning from a break, with a fifth last time out at Thirsk (6f, good), when 5 lengths adrift of the winner. off a handy mark here and could go close in this opening contest.
Race 2 (1:35pm) EZAJ
Ismail Mohammed’s runner looked good on debut, when fifth of eleven at Newbury (6.5f good to soft). He did drift in the closing furlong or so, but stayed on well, with the extra half furlong here, only expected to help him here. Decent claims, if the greenness has gone and the addition of Jim Crowley onboard will only encourage too.
Race 3 (2:10pm) ANTAGONIZE
Last of four victories came at Beverley (1m, good) last August, beating Bluetech by 0.75 lengths. A return from a six month break, brought a fourth of eleven at Southwell (1m, a/w) in March, with a couple of second place runs since, in the last two starts, including when half a length adrift of Diamond Haze at Thirsk (1m, good) just twenty-four days ago. Expected to be in the hunt for the spoils here too.
Race 4 (2:45pm) MAYTREE RESPITE
Winner on second start at Wolverhampton (1m, a/w) in December, beating Base Note by 1.25 lengths. Looked strong on return to action, just twenty days ago, when fourth of twenty over C&D (good) and 5.5 lengths adrift of the winner. That was a first run in 165 days, with improvement expected, now with that under his belt and handicapping for the first time.
Race 5 (3:20pm) ROYAL SCANDAL
This James Fanshawe runner made a winning debut at Newcastle (1m 2f, a/w) last month, beating Liseo by a length in an impressive display. Under penalty for this contest, but looked to have more in hand, if needed and is expected to progress in this small field and is arguably the one to beat.
Race 6 (3:55pm) HAVAILA
Improved off a disappointing debut, to place second at Lingfield (1m 3f, good), behind a very impressive winner in Valsad. Sir Micharl Stoute’s colt continued the good form, when third of eight at Salisbury (1m 4f, good) in a Class 4 contest, 3 lengths adrift of Soul Stopper. He makes handicap debut here and with the longer trip likely to suit, this well bred runner, out of Le Havre has a strong claim here.
