SATURDAY

Constitution HIll – Tolworth Hurdle (1:15pm Sandown)

The Tolworth Hurdle markets tell a straightforward tale, with Constitution Hill the clear odds on favourite for this contest, with the Nicky Henderson runner making a winning debut, over C&D last month and winning by a comfortable 14 length margin. He is clearly the strongest runner here and barring any major errors or indeed a surprise performance, Nico De Boinville should be coming home as a winner here.

Chelsea v Chesterfield (5:30pm)

It’s FA Cup Third Round weekend and the romance of the cup is brought into full view at Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea take on National League side, Chesterfield. Chelsea are expected to ease to victory here, with it a case of being by how many, against a Spireites side who sit top of the fifth tier at the time of writing. Thomas Tuchel can afford to rotate his side and give youth a chance too and with such commodities at his disposal, a big win is expected, with anything less than five goals arguably being a surprise.

SUNDAY

West Ham v Leeds United (2:00pm)

West Ham take on Leeds United at the London Stadium, with the Hammers favourites to go through to the Fourth Round of the cup. The Londoners, after a dip in form have won their last two matches, including a 3-2 win over Crystal Palace, while Leeds United’s poor run, finally came to an end with a win over Burnley. Since being promoted, Leeds have lost all three meetings with West Ham, with two of those ending 2-1 to the Hammers. I expect something similar here, with David Moyes’s side going through

Nottingham Forest v Arsenal (5:10pm)

Nottingham Forest take on an in form Arsenal side at the City Ground, with the home side hoping to cause an upset. Forest were in decent form until recently and come into this match off the back of two straight defeats to Middlesbrough and Huddersfield. The Gunners run of five straight wins was ended in controversial style, in a 2-1 loss to Man City, despite Mikel Arteta’s side outplaying the league leaders for large parts of the match. Expect the London side to rotate the first eleven here and give one or two youngsters a game, which should still be enough to see them through. The last meeting between the sides was in 2019, when the Gunner ran out 5-0 winners in the Carabao Cup.
