SHE DO – Chartwell Fillies Stakes (Lingfield, 3:50pm)
The big race of the weekend is the Group 3 – Chartwell Fillies Stakes, with a battle between Roger Varian runner She Do and Hugo Palmer’s Chocoya expected. I have gone for the former, having beaten Gale Force Maya by a shorthead, last time out in the Listed – Boadicea Stakes at Newmarket (6f, good), back in October.
A return from a seven month lay-off obviously brings its own concerns, but if prepped right, she should take the win here. Outside of these two, Symphony Perfect who has had two runs recently, could be a threat via fitness, but i’m banking on this Varian charge to take the win.
SHE DO TO WIN THE RACE (11/4)
LIVERPOOL – versus Tottenham, (Premier League, 7:45pm)
Liverpool take on Tottenham at Anfield, with the Merseysiders bouncing, having reached the Champions League final. The quest for a quadruple continues, as they look to go above rivals Man City, who play on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp’s side survived a scare in midweek against Villarreal, but eventually won 3-2. Opponents Spurs, beat Leicester 3-1 last weekend and have had more time to rest, but you have to expect the morale boost for the home side, to be enough. Liverpool have won the last three meetings at Anfield 2-1 and something similar is likely to happen once again.
LIVERPOOL WIN & BOTH TO SCORE (7/4)
Manchester City – versus Newcastle United (Premier League, 4:30pm)
Manchester City will look to dust themselves down, after the disappointment of their Champions League exit to Real Madrid and take on Newcastle United, with the knowledge that they are likely to be behind rivals Liverpool, when the sides meet.
Pep Guardiola’s side conceded two late goals, which forced extra time, before Karim Benzema scored from the spot, to take a final away from the blue half of Manchester. Opponents, Newcastle lost 1-0 to Liverpool but have a poor record versus City, losing the last five and I expect the Citizens to make Newcastle pay for last weeks damaging defeat.
MANCHESTER CITY TO WIN & OVER 2.5 Goals (4/7)
CHARLES LECLERC – (Miami Grand Prix, 8:30pm)
Formula 1 makes a stop in Florida, for the Miami Grand Prix, for the first time in its history. After the disastrous result at Imola, Ferrari will be looking to bounce back in this race, as Charles Leclerc looks to enlarge the title lead, ahead of Max Verstappen.
This is a really difficult contest to call, on a new track and off the back of those recent performances, but I fancy the Monagasque driver to take a vital race win here, ahead of the World Champion.
CHARLES LECLERC TO WIN THE RACE (6/4)
