Chaldean To Win (Greenham Stakes) Newbury, 2.40pm Saturday – 8/11

Chaldean was a two-year-old right out of the top drawer for Andrew Balding, and assuming he’s trained on as a three year old is going to be a force in the Classics and beyond this season. The son of Frankel’s first assignment is here at Newbury where he shed his maiden tag and can make it 1-1 in 2023.

He rapidly improved last year and won a very hot Dewhurst stakes at Newmarket. It’s hard to see him not taking this before contesting the 2000 Guineas in a month’s time.

Liverpool To Win To Nil (Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest) Premier League, 3pm Saturday – 5/6

Liverpool looked like the team we’re become accustomed to in recent years when cruising to a 6-1 victory away to Leeds last week, and they should find their game this weekend just as comfortable.

Their home record has been solid all season, winning 10 of their 14 games at Anfield, and with some key players returning to the team (Jota, Diaz, Thiago etc) they should be far too good for a struggling Nottingham Forest side on Saturday.

Looking at the H2H record, Liverpool are unbeaten in the last 25 games against Forest at Anfield, winning 18 of them. Forest’s away record this season is abysmal, losing 11 of their 15 PL games and only scoring five goals in the process.

Coming up against a Liverpool side who have only conceded 11 goals at home in the league this season, I can’t see anything except a comfortable win for Jurgen Klopp’s side, and think the odds of 5/6 on them winning to nil are extremely generous!

Man City To Win To Nil (Man City vs Sheffield United) FA Cup, 5.30pm Saturday – 10/11

There seems to be no stopping Man City at the moment, who have now won 10 of their last 11 games, and Sheffield United must have been disappointed not to draw either Man Utd or Brighton, who they would’ve surely stood more chance against.

Instead they face a Man City side who have only conceded four goals in their last ten games, and the head to head record doesn’t exactly instil hope for them either – In their four most recent H2H’s, City have won each game to nil.

Pep Guardiola’s side are yet to concede a goal in the FA Cup this season, winning to nil against Arsenal, Chelsea, Bristol City and Burnley. Sheffield United don’t have the same firepower that Arsenal or Chelsea have (even Burnley too), so it’s difficult to see them causing too many problems for Man City’s backline.

The odds of 10/11 on a Man City win looks a solid enough option to go with here, and should be snapped up in my opinion.

Manly Sea Eagles -10 Handicap (Wests Tigers vs Manly Sea Eagles) NRL Australia, 7.05am Sunday – 10/11

The Wests Tigers currently look like nailed-on Wooden Spooners, with some dismal performances already and no wins to their name. This fully looks set to continue this week as the high flying Sea Eagles roll into Campbeltown.

The maroons were superb on both sides of the ball last week in their 18-8 win and particularly impressed defensively. The Tigers look ragged and seem to have very few ideas. Add to this the loss of Doueihi at full back, the poor run looks set to continue.

Manly have fire power across the pitch, a gameplay and several strike players in the backline and look set to inflict plenty of damage on Sunday. They also welcome back the enigmatic Josh Schuster at five-eighth and this should ensure points for them and I fully expect them to be way past the 10 point winning margin here. Last season they won both fixtures against Wests by 24 and 14 respectively.
