On Friday evening (7:45pm) the third ever World Series Of Darts Finals take place at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow, with Michael Van Gerwen looking to win a third title in a row, having previously beaten Peter Wright in the previous two finals. The “Green Machine” is favourite once again, with the most likely challenge coming from Gary Anderson (9/2) and Peter Wright (7/1), while Rob Cross (20/1)could be a useful outsider, having found some excellent form recently.

Rob Cross each-way 20/1

On Saturday morning (9:00am), England take on Lebanon in the second round of group matches in the Rugby League World Cup in Sydney, with England needing to be wary of their opponents, who surprised France in a 29-18 win last time out.

England had a tough start in the 18-6 loss to hosts and favourites Australia, but are expected to bounce back with a strong performance in this game. The Lebanese side feature a fair few ex-pats from Australia and New Zealand, which helps the quality of the side and the team has beaten the likes of Wales and Ireland in the past. This will be the sides first ever meeting.

England should win but not by as big a margin as expected, so a Lebanon +30 pt handicap at 11/10 looks a viable option here.

At tea-time on Saturday (5:30pm), the Bundesliga’s top match brings Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich together in *”der Klassika”” at Signal Iduna Park.

Since Jupp Heynckes took over the reins at Bayern, “die Roten” have returned to familiar form, winning all six matches (including penalties) under his management and keeping four clean sheets. By contrast, Dortmund have really struggled so far, after a positive start, with Peter Bosz’s side winning once in the last six games, which was against third tier opposition in the cup.

There have been fourteen goals scored in the last three meetings between the sides and with Dortmund conceding eleven times in the last six games they have played, Bayern should be too strong for the home side here.

This weekend the FA Cup First Round is upon us once again, as sides try to emulate the heroics of Sutton and Lincoln from last season.

One such club is Billericay Town, who travel to Leatherhead Town on Sunday (2:00pm), in one of the less glamourous ties, with both sides residing in the seventh tier of the English football pyramid.

Billericay Town are being bankrolled by Steel owner, Glenn Tamplin and have some well known players on their books, including former Premier League players in Jamie O’Hara, Paul Konchesky and Jermaine Pennant.

Could this be the year that Billericay Town announce themselves in the FA Cup? Who knows but they should reach the second round here.
