(1) (6:23pm Goodwood) BARTZELLA was 4/1 now 2/1
Golden Horn filly, out of Primevere, who is a half-sister to Secullus, winner over 7f-1m 2f. Dam was a listed winner (RPR 110) and this looks to be a promising talent for Willie Haggas, who has two runners in this contest. Shortened in from around 4/1 and looks the main threat to favourite, Country Pyle.
(2) (5:15pm Curragh) OODNADATA was 7/1 now 4/1
Winner on debut at Leopardstown (7f, good), fourteen months ago, but has failed to build upon that success since, amongst Group company. Placed fourth in the Group 3 – Royal Whip Stakes on latest here at Curragh (1m 1f, yielding) a fortnight ago, 3 lengths adrift of the winner, Earlswood. Looks destined to feature here and market interest backs that up so far.
(3) (5:40pm Hamilton) VENTURA GOLD was 8/1 now 4/1
Five wins in thirty-four starts, but its been over two years since that last happened. He has looked better so far this season, with a third last time out at Beverley (1m good), two weeks ago offering further proof of that, when half a length off the winner, Mikmak. Rise of 1lb is insignificant here and can go one better here, with the market interested hinting at that belief.
(4) (6:15pm Curragh) ONLY SPOOFING was 10/1 now 9/2
The last victory came at Navan (5f, good) back in May, when 3 lengths clear of Sounds Of Spring. Followed that up with a second in the World Pool Dash at Epsom (5f, good to soft), when 1.5 lengths behind Mokaatil, but has dropped off a little since, with a run of 4886 since. A better run is needed to return to winning ways this evening, but it’s not completely out of the question, with plenty of backing on the boards. Each-way claims look the more appealing, however.
(5) (4:53pm Goodwood) RED ALERT was 14/1 now 13/2
Seven career wins under Tony Carroll and has returned to the yard, after a brief spell under Mick Appleby, in which he finished second at Chelmsford (6f, a/w), when just a head behind Sir Rodneyredblood. Since returning to Carroll’s yard, he has registered a 664 run, with the fourth place coming at Brighton (5f, good), when just 1.25 lengths adrift of winner, Spreadsheet. Solid place runner here and would have to significantly improve for the victory.
