(1) (1:15pm Sandown) LANGAFEL was 9/4, now 5/4
Gary Moore’s runner was a three race maiden on the flat, before picking up a hurdling double in his last two starts, following up a Newton Abbot victory, with the spoils at Market Rasen (2m, good) back in August, when 1.25 lengths ahead of Corporal Jones. He has enjoyed a near eight month break and returns with minor fitness concerns, but the market movement suggest this shouldn’t be an issue, with the outright looking very strong.
(2) (5:25pm Gowran Park) SERIOUS OPERATOR was 6/1, now 10/3
Malinas gelding, out of Idrather Not Say, who makes debut for Daniel Murphy. Dam placed in a point contest, but was otherwise pulled-up and so far this 5-yo picked up a point win on his second attempt. Plenty of interest here, with very little to go on, but when the market speaks, it’s usually good to listen. Clearly has outright claims, with those of a more cautious nature, liable to look at each-way backing for this debutant.
(3) (5:51pm Hereford) KARAKORAM was 6/1, now 10/3
Just two wins in forty-fiver starts, but did pick up his most recent one, back in December at Taunton (2m 3f, good to soft), when beating Spirit Of Rome by 1.25 lengths. Has since placed 4465, including a fifth of sixteen back at Taunton (2m 3f, good to soft), eighteen days ago, when 3.25 lengths adrift. In good nick and is likely to enjoy the extended trip this afternoon.
(4) (4:10pm Sandown) OFALLTHEGINJOINTS was 5/1, now 7/2
No win in eight runs, since November 2020, however Colin Tizzard’s charge has been far from disgraced in general and placed second last time out at Kempton (3m, good) to suggest better times are ahead, when 7.5 lengths behind Flegmatik. A tactics change in that race certainly helped and if they are followed once again, he can go close here. Each-way claims looks about right here.
(5) (3:51pm Wolverhampton) PINNATA was 14/1, now 8/1
Eight wins and ten places in forty-three runs for this experienced Stuart Williams runner. Although it’s been six runs since the last victory, a recent fourth of ten at Kempton (1m, a.w) shows he is in good nick, however this looks a tough ask to take the victory this afternoon, but places can surely beckon, if able to continue the positive run of form.
