(1) (2:00pm Ffos Las) NADA TO PRADA was 9/2 now 7/4
Trained by Michael Scudamore, this 6-yo mare has three wins and two places in six starts. The last victory, came back in December of last year, when sealing a double at Haydock (2m 2f, heavy), in the Listed – Abram Mares’ Hurdle, before a third in the Rossington at the same venue, the following month. She returned to make chasing bow last month, placing second behind Little River Bay (2m 4f, good to soft) and comes into this contest of the back of a wind op. Strong claims and backed in well.
(2) (1:25pm Ffos Las) TRANSFER FRIENDLY was 11/2, now 2/1
Failed to score in six point runs, but certainly offered more on rules and stable debut, when third here at Ffos Las (1m 7f, soft) ten days ago, 6.5 lengths adrift of winner, Lebowski. Looked to have needed further that day and thus extends to this 2m 4f trip. There is plenty to like here and with strong backing too, Harry Whittington’s charge can take the spoils this afternoon.
(3) (12:10pm Hexham) HART OF STEEL was 11/2 now 10/3
Donald MacCain’s entry has three victories and a couple of places so far in six appearances, adding to the win column last time out, on his return to action at Carlisle (2m 4f, good), beating Kavanagh’s Cross by a neck. The second has since gone on to place at Cheltenham last week, to enhance that form further. Winner of this contest last year and even with a 3lbs rise, after that win, he still looks the one to beat, Theo Gillard claims 5lbs too and looks a strong outright selection
(4) (1:05pm Warwick) JOYFUL KIT was 9/1 now 9/2
Six race maiden for Toby Lawes, who picked up their only place result, when third at Down Royal (2m, good) in a mares flat race, back in August, finishing 8.75 lengths adrift of odds on favourite, Hi Stranger. She placed fourth on hurdling debut at Plumpton (1m 7f, good to soft) a fortnight ago, shaping as though further was needed, with this 2m 5f trip looking ideal. Looks a genuine contender, if performing as hoped on this extended trip.
(5) (1:15pm Hexham) TWOSHOTSOFTEQUILA was 10/1, now 9/2
Four race maiden, with Rebecca Menzies’ runner picking up a best of third in the penultimate start, over C&D (2m, soft) last month, when 13.5 lengths adrift of odds on favourite, It’s Good To Laugh on hurdling debut. He found it tougher going, in a Class 2 at Cheltenham, twenty-five days ago, when last of four and 45 lengths behind, but a return to calmer waters should aide their chances. Probably could do with an extended trip, but worthy of each-way backing nonetheless.
