(1) (4:30pm Market Rasen) ROWLAND WARD was 7/1 now 4/1
Three wins in seventeen, with the last of those coming in the penultimate start at Aintree (2m, good to soft) back in April, when half a length ahead of Camprond and 5.5 lengths clear of the remainder. That was followed by a good fourth in a Grade 3 contest at Haydock, a month later and its that form that interests here. Plenty to come on seasonal debut and plenty of market interest.
(2) (5:50pm Ripon) HURSTWOOD was 6/1, now 4/1
Won at Ripon (6f, good to firm) back in June, but now five races without a victory, A fourth last time out at Redcar (5f, good) three days ago, saw them just 1.5 lengths adrift of the winner. Drops a 1lb for today and should be involved once more, with each-way claims the way forward.
(3) (7:30pm Chelmsford) CASH MACHINE was 13/2 now 4/1
Only career win, came here over C&D back in April, when half a length ahead of narrow favourite, Boundless Power. Has a record since then of 240, with a couple of Class 3 runs in those last two outings. The drop back in class should help, as will Laura Pearson’s 3lbs claim, but needs to get back to that progressive form of earlier in the year. Each-way claims once again.
(4) (3:35pm Curragh) PRINCESS RAJJ was 8/1 now 5/1
Five race maiden, who has shown improvement in the last couple of runs, with a latest of third at Down Royal (7f, good), just 0.75 lengths behind winner, Mumayaz. Looked as though today’s 6f is more suitable and comes in off the same mark, Strong chances here, with Scott McCullagh claiming 5lbs.
(5) (2:45pm Market Rasen) CRANE was 22/1, now 8/1
Only win came at Lingfield (1m, a/w) back in November of last year and although not disgraced in the majority of runs since, Nicky Henderson’s charge hasn’t quite hit the heights he would have hoped as yet. A third of eleven last time out at Stratford (2m good) last month looks good on paper, but they were 35 lengths adrift of runaway winner, Caramelised. More to come, but place claims look the order the day.
