(1) (1:00pm Southwell) LOVE YOUR WORK was 11/4, now 6/4
Four wins and five places in thirty-nine races so far for this 6-yo runner, with form dipping in general last year. However a move to Rebecca Menzies yard seemed to do the trick, when he finished second on stable debut, to Daafy by just a neck here at Southwell (1m, a/w) eighteen days ago, in a much better performance. A four-time course winner here and definitely in the hunt to add to that today. Narrow favourite on the markets.
(2) (3:00pm Southwell) LUCKY MAN was 6/1, now 3/1
It took him a little while to get going, but this Richard Spencer runner has been in good form, since taking a second at Chelmsford back in September,. He grabbed his only career victory so far, at Newcastle (5f, a/w) in a Nursery back in November and placing twice in two subsequent runs. More to offer over 6f and definitely on the shortlist of main contenders for the win
(3) (2:20pm Kelso) ULTRA VIOLET was 7/1 now 7/2
Decent flat runner in France, including a victory in his last run over there. Joined Nick Alexander’s yard and after a difficult hurdling debut at Perth (2m, good to soft) back in September, he showed a bit more promise, when third of six at Musselburgh (1m 7f, good to soft) in November, finishing 8.25 lengths adrift. Fell in latest last month, but looks to bounce back in this handicap debut. Useful contender, but needs to improve his jumping, so each-way backing may be the wiser option.
(4) (2:30pm Southwell) GLORIOUS CHARMER was 6/1, now 4/1
Two victories to date, but they came earlier in his career, with the last back in October 2018. He has produced the odd useful run, including a third of fourteen over C&D sixteen days ago, when 0.75 lengths behind winner Tell’em Nowt. Struggled last time out in a handicap contest, here over 4f, but should improve now back up in trip. Decent claims overall and the main threat to favourite, Western Music.
(5) (6:00pm Chelmsford) COUNT OTTO was 18/1, now 13/2
Useful Amanda Perrett runner, with nine wins and eleven places in fifty-three runs, with the last victory, coming back in April of last year, in a Class 2 contest at Newmarket (6f, good), when beating Chil Chil by a neck. Form had dipped sharply since and a return to action at Lingfield, nineteen days ago, after a five month break, saw them finish last but one. Others arguably appeal, but strong market movement and our very own Andrew Mount tipping this 7-yo, makes for an interesting proposition.
