(1) (7:00pm Dundalk) KAWAZAKI was 6/1, now 11/4
Holy Roman Empire gelding, out of Marie Josephe, bought for £45,000 as a yearling. Dam a winner over 1m 2f, out of a half-sister to Lancashire Oaks third, Queen Of Naples. Pedigree incudes Derby winner, Oath. He did finish second in a barrier trial in the Summer and makes rules debut having been gelded since. Strong claims, especially with this market backing.
(2) (3:40pm Catterick) MASSINI MAN was 6/1, now 9/2
Only win came back in 2018 at Hereford, with the odd solid performance thrown in since. John Groucott’s charge showed a lot of improvement, when second in latest at Southwell (2m 4f, good to soft), when 5.5 lengths adrift of Rafferty. That reduced mark certainly helped and he has decent claims once more, if able to repeat the feat of last month’s run. Each-way backing may be the better option here.
(3) (3:50pm Lingfield) THERMOMETER was 10/1 now 6/1
Was somewhat green on debut, when last of nine back in September, but showed improvement on debut for Scott Dixon’s yard, when fifth of eleven at Southwell (1m, a/w) and 7.25 lengths adrift of the winner. Rise in trip will arguably suit and has had place interest this morning. Worth a stab for each-way backers.
(4) (6:00pm Dundalk) CHERRY BLOOM was 16/1, now 15/2
Only win came on her second appearance, when taking the spoils at Down Royal (5f, good) in June of last year, but she has not built upon that since, nor placed. A couple of fourth placed finishes at the end of last year, offered renewed optimism, before a sixth of eleven last time out, here at Dundalk (5f, a/w) four weeks ago, when just 2 lengths adrift of the winner. Extended trip today could well help and she looks a solid place bet at very least.
(5) (7:30pm Dundalk) TAKE MY HAND was 20/1, now 12/1
Plenty of experience for this 5-yo, with a record of four wins in forty-one starts, including the last of those, over C&D back in November, when 0.75 lengths clear of Royal Scholar, who opposes once more. A record since of 4-7955 isn’t ideal, but in a large field, this Michael Mulvaney runner could get in the mix, with a useful place price worth a having a dabble with this evening.
