(1) (7:00pm Kempton) HAFEET ALAIN was 3/1, now7/4
Three victories so far, with all of those coming for Adrian Nicholls prior to November 2019. He returned after a near two year absence, including a brief run in Hong Kong, to be under the tutelage of Ed Walker and showed form in his most recent start, when second at Wolverhampton (7f, a/w), missing out by a head to Street Kid, in a blanket finish. Extended mile trip, off this same mark offers plenty of encouragement and he has been backed into narrow favouritism.
(2) (2:10pm Dundalk) HIGHTOWN HEIGHTS was 13/2, now 4/1
Vastly improved runner for James McAuley, since being picked up in a claimers race back in October, winning over C&D, when beating Sister Lola by a neck and placing twice in five starts so far. She could be better treated by the handicapper, but clearly has more to come, off the those recent runs.
(3) (5:15pm Dundalk) HERES HOPING was 15/2 now 11/2
Fourteen race maiden, with two places so far, including when returning to some form, placing third over C&D back in November, some 1.5 lengths adrift of the winner. A fourth in the latest, last month, over C&D saw them 4.75 lengths adrift this time around and in general should be competitive once again, with each-way backing the ideal way forward.
(4) (1:35pm Dundalk) ADAMS BARBOUR was 10/1, now 13/2
Picked up a third career win, back in September, taking the spoils over C&D , 1.25 lengths ahead of King’s View and after a couple of useful runs, picked up another win in the latest, again over C&D, having dropped back from 6f. Rise of 10lbs and elevation in grade make this a tougher ask, but place backing looks to have potential.
(5) (4:00pm Ffos Las) CAPTAIN CLAUDE was 12/1, now 8/1
Decent start to his career, when fifth of ten at Uttoxeter (1m 7f, good to soft) back in October, before regressing last time out at Chepstow (2m, good to soft) and finishing eighth. Wears a first time tongue-tie this afternoon and with a little bit of market interest, warrants some place backing appeal here.
