All pricing correct as of 9:00am, 6th October, shortest priced runner, first.
(1) (1:38pm Worcester) HUNNY MOON was 17/2 now 4/1
Strong record of three wins and three places in eight starts Fergal O’Brien, with the last of those victories coming at Perth (2m 4f, good to soft) back in April, when beating Bellaney Gem by a short-head. Makes chase debut today, but has a strong pedigree that suggests further successes to come, although this mare does face runners with more experience this afternoon. Strong claims and backed in strongly, with each-way appeal, if a larger price is available.
(2) (2:30pm Exeter) TROED Y MELIN was 6/1, now 4/1
Picked up a second career victory, with the win here at Exeter (3m, good to firm) back in April, easing to a 7 length victory in a five runner contest. It wasn’t the greatest of contests in terms of future form, but with a flat 10 stone on his back and Tom Buckley’s 5lbs claim, it’s difficult to see why he cannot be involved this afternoon and as with the previous selection, each way claims offer the most appeal here.
(3) (8:30pm Chelmsford) BOBBY KENNEDY was 8/1 now 5/1
Picked up a maiden win at the sixth attempt, when taking the spoils at Bath (1m 3f, good) back in May and returned to action four weeks ago, when sixth at Lingfield (1m 5f, a/w), when a beaten favourite, having got off to a slow start and struggled to settle. That looks more a blot on the copybook than anything more sinister, with a better run expected here. Oisin Murphy rides this evening, but faces a tough task to overhaul favourite, Lindwall. Each-way backing, looks the call here.
(4) (7:30pm Chelmsford) BOY GEORGE was 9/1 now 11/2
Now a twenty-nine race maiden, but this Dominic Ffrench Davis runner has placed in ten of those starts. He was beaten by a length or less in three successive runs, before another second placed finish last time out, here over C&D, saw them 5.5 lengths behind shock 40/1 winner, Daany, three weeks ago. Ever the bridesmaid, but another who warrants each-way backing.
(5) (4:40pm Exeter) ECLAIR DES SABLONS was 15/2, now 6/1
Only career win came over C&D (good to firm) back in April, when beating Merry Berry by a head. These two were some 11 lengths clear of the rest in a strong display that day. Form dropped off slightly over the Summer, with a third of five at Newton Abbot, their last run. Has a chance under conditions, but probably needs to find a little more on return. Place claims expected.
