OUR JESTER (6:55pm Haydock) was 10/3, now 2/1
Picked up both career wins over the Winter, in a bumper double either side of Christmas, including victory at Lingfield (2m, a/w), when 3.25 lengths clear of Swapped. He returned to action with a respectable seventh on twenty in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham back in March, before a second of four at Bath (1m 3f, good) in his latest on flat debut. Genuine claims here and backed in solidly, whilst the booking of WIlliam Buick should inspire confidence.
SAN ANDREAS (6:50pm Fairyhouse) was 10/3, now 5/2
Strong performances on the all-weather, including a victory at Dundalk (1m, a/w) back in March, beating Casanova by 1.75 lengths and he nearly made it a double at Newcastle (1m, a/w), when just a nose to My Oberon, a month later. The latest at Cork, saw them finish in midfield, amongst twenty-five runners in the Mallow Handicap, three weeks ago, but this looks a little less testing, on the drop back to 6f here. Looks set to fight HMS Endeavour for the spoils.
DREAMS OF THUNDER (7:55pm Haydock) was 7/1, now 9/2
Six race maiden for Robert Cowell, having gone close on several occasions, before grabbing a first win, on debut for Amy Murphy in her first seasonal start at Nottingham (6f, good), ten days ago, beating Judy’s Park by 1.5 lengths. Clearly capable of more this afternoon, although it may be a tough ask, to stop favourite, Lil Guff. Each-way claims look ideal.
MAARACUDJA (7:35pm Stratford) was 9/1, now 13/2
Nine career wins for this 11-yo and proved he still has what it takes, when winning at Leicester (2m 6f, soft) back in March, when 8 lengths clear of Indirocco. He placed ninth of twenty-three in the Fox Hunters at Aintree last month and is expected to be in the mix this afternoon, albeit with Cat Tiger, expected to lead the way. Each-way claims look the way forward for backers.
AGAINST THE ODDS (3:20pm Brighton) was 12/1, now 8/1
Two career wins, with the last of those back in 2016. Lightly raced overall and not been seen on track since 2018. Makes debut for Gary Moore’s yard and any more than a place finish would be considered a big surprise, with some backing just offering some encouragement.
