BERYL BURTON (6:45pm Leicester) was 7/2, now 2/1
Maiden winner at the ninth attempt, when taking the spoils at Ffos Las (1m 2f, good to soft) back in September, when beating Wow William by 1.75 lengths. Decen enough form since and looked very positive, when second of twelve at Redcar (1m 2f, good), when just a neck to Rocket Dancer, nine days ago. 2lbs rise looks fine and John Berry’s runner can grab the victory here, with Haven Lady the main danger.
LIVE IN THE DREAM (2:50pm Sandown) was 4/1, now 7/2
Adam West’s charge has looked strong in recent weeks and followed a C&D victory in April, by sealing a double at Chester (5f, good to soft), beating Nymphadora by 2.25 lengths last month (both handicaps). Form was checked at Epsom (5f, good) last time out, when fifth of twenty and 3.75 lengths adrift of the winner, but remains a strong candidate here, although Caturra may just be too good in this contest.
HARSWELL DUKE (4:50pm York) was 13/2, now 5/1
Best form came for Liam Bailey, when taking a maiden and only win at Musselburgh (1m 1f, soft) a year ago, has been racing for Roger Fell since April and has found minor success in the penultimate start, when third of thirteen at Hamilton (1m 1f, good), 1.5 lengths adrift of Eilean Dubh. Continued the decent form last time out, here at York (1m, good), whens sixth of twenty, with Eilean Dubh once again too good, but respected here with some market interest.
DELUXE RANGE (3:45pm Hexham) was 12/1, now 8/1
Maiden winner at the seventh time of asking, taking the spoils at Kelso (2m 6f, soft) in a hurdle contest. Has been consistent since, without making much of an impact, including a third of eight at Warwick (3m 2f, good to soft) back in March. Struggled over fences last time out and a return to flights is welcomed, but others arguably appeal. Places at very best.
MAGIC PIPER (4:40pm Downpatrick) was 16/1, now 8/1
Another runner, who took thier time finding a maiden win, with this Thomas Gibney charge finally grabbing a victory at the fourteenth attempt, here at Downpatrick (2m 5f, yielding to soft) a year ago. Has struggled since and on return to action three weeks ago, finished ninth of fourteen and some 27 lengths adrift of Na Caith Tobac, who reopposes today. Should be fitter for that run, but place claims look the more likely outcome, with some market interest.
