(1) (7:20pm Dundalk) EROSANDPYSCHE was 10/1, now 7/2
Inauspicious start to career, with an eighth on debut at Dundalk (6f, a/w) back in January, before rearing up in the stalls and unseating his rider in March. However, it all came together at Tipperary (5f, yielding) yesterday, when 3.75 lengths clear of Shelly Banks. Quick turnaround isn’t ideal, but does receive weight from main threats in this contest and has had plenty of backing overnight.
(2) (3:25pm Catterick) ZUMURUD was 10/1, now 4/1
Without a win since the Summer of 2019, with form patchy at best. Placed fifth a couple of times at Catterick last year, but form dipped once again towards August and September. However, after a near seven month break, he returned with a fifth at Redcar (5f, good to firm), 6 lengths adrift of winner, Ghathanfar on stable debut. Has finished second here off a 7lbs higher mark and appears in first time headgear. Genuine chances, if able to build upon that last run
(3) (3:00pm Perth) THE WOLF was 19/2 now 11/2
Winner at Chepstow (2m 7f, sotf) back in October and has since been in and around the places, with third at Wetherby in penultimate start, some 19 lengths adrift fo Chantry House, before looking a little out of place in the Ultima at the Cheltenham Festival, finishing tenth. Drops 2lbs today and in this lesser contest should have genuine chances, with each-way backing arguably the favoured option.
(4) (4:20pm Ludlow) *CASTLE KEEP* was 22/1 now 15/2**
Leading Light gelding out of Castle Jane, who cost 14,000gns as a 3-yo. Dam is half-sister to useful winners King’s Odyssey and Sandymount Rose. Arguably bred to run further than today’s trip, but the trainer did have a bumper winner at Cheltenham last week and chances look good here. Each-way backing again the way forward.
(5) (4:30pm Catterick) DENZIL’S LAUGHING as 30/1, now 11/1
A win and a place in ten starts, but has been relatively low-key in recent outings, finishing 58-6 sine placing second at Musselburgh in September. Gelded prior to seasonal return, but first-time headgear is removed this time around, which may see some improvement. Place backing only at this price and on recent performances.
