(1) (2:15pm Newcastle) DULAS was 13/2, now 4/1
Only won came at this venue, back in December 2019 and has been raced just four times since, struggling to break through in handicap contests. Finished lame in latest back in November at Kempton and has been given time to recover from that and a gelding operation. Could well improve after that surgery, while still young enough to have some improvement still to come. Backing in the market, but faces a tough ask to beat favourite, Broctune Red. Each-way backing.
(2) (6:10pm Chelmsford) SIR RODNEYREDBLOOD was 10/1, now 4/1
Sealed a double over C&D in February, when beating Sir Hector by a length and has just gone off the boil since, with a fifth at Kempton (6f) and fourth at Southwell (7f). Takes on Sir Hector once again, who will be 3lbs better off this time around, so John Jenkins’s runner will need to find a little more here. Each-way backing looks the safer option.
(3) (5:07pm Chelmsford) RWANDA MIST was 13/1 now 11/2
Three starts, with relatively little to shout about over 7f and is initially hard to justify. However, he is bred for 1m 2f+, with his dam a previous winner over 1m 3f, a/w. Away since the Summer, but plenty of market interest in George Scott’s runner this morning, make this an interesting proposition.
(4) (2:25pm Chelmsford) MOSTAQQER was 22/1 now 15/2
Nine race maiden, who placed just the once, on second start at Roscommon in June of last year. Five runs in the UK, since switching across from Ireland have brought little in the way of form, although a tenth last time out at Chelmsford in February, saw them just 6.5 lengths adrift. Back up in trip after a short break and a total drop of 19lbs since coming across the Irish Sea, has attracted some money in the markets from place backers.
(5) (5:15pm Lingfield) YOUNG FIRE was 18/1, now 12/1
Four wins in twenty starts, including a victory at Redcar (7f, soft) in October, when 3.75 length ahead of Al Erayg. Has found the step up in class a tough one, with a run of 6655 since that win, including a fifth placed finish over C&D, sixteen days ago, 3.5 lengths behind the winner, Count Otto, who runs in this contest too. Better run expected and has found some place backers on the boards.
