(1) (2:55pm Lingfield) ALWAYS FEARLESS was 16/1, now 6/1
Winner on polytrack, back as a 2 year old, but has been in a constant battle with the handicapper since, with a recent record of 63556. A third at Windsor (1m, soft) back in August, offered some hope of progress, but has not managed to kick on in subsequent runs. Continues in Class 5 company and has been solidly backed overnight and this morning/
(2) (12:55pm Ascot) SALTY BOY was 14/1, now 8/1
Not won since December 2018 at Navan (2m 4f, yielding), but has shown consistency in last few starts, including latest on seasonal return at Sandown (2m 4f, good), when fourth, finishing 8 lengths adrift on stable debut. Extended trip is likely to help here and despite some tough competition, he has been backed in well. Each-way backing looks the way forward here.
(3) (1:30pm Ascot) MIDNIGHTREFLECTION was 16/1, now 8/1
Winner at Huntingdon (2m 4f, good to soft) back in March, finishing 2.5 lengths clear of Agent Valdez, before a good third on seasonal return at Warwick (2m 5f, good) last month. However a poor run at Wincanton (2m 5f, good) a fortnight ago, has calmed expectations. Has been backed in, but concern over that form and when last attempting the 3m trip, make this a difficult selection to be confident in, one for each-way punters.
(4) (2:47pm Naas) THE CHAPEL FIELD was 20/1, now 17/2
Useful hurdler, who picked up a first win over fences at Thurles (2m 2f, yielding) thirteen days ago, finishing 2 lengths clear of Midland Millie. Handicap has been kind, raising him a further 4lbs, while the extended trip has reaped a victory over flights previously. Well backed and genuine chances, if continuing the form on here.
(5) (8:30pm Wolverhampton) KNOWING GLANCE was 25/1, now 11/1
Decent performances during the first half of the year, including a victory over 7f, at Wolves back in March, when beating Dragon Sun by a nose. Form has dropped off since however, with no better than eighth in the last three starts and beating just two of the twelve rivals last time out at Chelmsford. Drops to 6f here, but needs to show a lot more, even with plenty of backing overnight.
