(1) (8.05pm Newcastle) MUSICALITY was 15/2 now 11/2
Made a flying start to his career, with two wins and two places in the opening four starts, before naturally dropping off, as he entered higher class contests. His best so far in these Class 3 races, was a third over C&D back in July, when 2 lengths adrift of winner, Strike Red, whom opposes once again. Switch to a visor may help, as did cheekpieces in that third place finish, but needs to show more. Each-way claims if at full tilt.
(2) (4:55pm Haydock) SEXTANT was 8/1, now 6/1
The last of six victories came at Carlisle (2m 1f, soft) back in December of last year, when 6 lengths clear of Jayaah. Has since played 43-658 and needs to find last season’s form to feature. A recent eighth of fifteen in the Copper Horse Stakes at Ascot (1m 6f, good to firm), was better, but more needed. Place backing looks the more ideal here.
(3) (1:00pm Salisbury) FORTUNE AND GLORY was 18/1 now 8/1
Useful runner under Joseph Tuite, picking up seven career wins, including a double in the Summer of 2020. Recent form has been a little hit and miss, with a fourth at Brighton (7f, good to firm), one of the better showings. Makes debut for David Bridgwater today and is 4lbs lighter than that last win. Backed in well, with places in mind.
(4) (6:55pm Chelmsford) PISTOLETTO was 14/1 now 8/1
Won opening two career starts as a 2-yo, but is not 0-23 since. He has had a couple of decent runs recently, including a third at Goodwood (7f, good) back in June, before a struggle at this venue, in his latest, a Class 2 contest. Drops down to Class 4 level today and is capable of better than we have seen in recent months. Each-way claims may be worth a small wager here, for those a little more confident in his abilities, otherwise places look the optimum way forward.
(5) (7:55pm Chelmsford) WIDAAD was 11/1, now 8/1
Maiden winner at the ninth time of asking, when 1.5 lengths clear of Biggles at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) back in May. Has maintained the strong form, with a run of 233 since then, placing third at Beverley (1m, soft) in latest, also in May. Will arguably need the run, off the back of a three month break, but still capable of featuring in the place positions.
