(1) (4:55pm Wolverhampton) BIG IMPACT was 7/2 now 2/1
Maiden and only win came back in February 2020, but recent form has suggested he can add to that today, having returned from a five month break, to place second at Chelmsford (6f, a/w) two days ago, when 1.75 lengths behind Le Roca Del Fuego, with both a further 1.75 lengths clear of the rest. Has struggled in two appearances at this venue, but looks more likely this time around, while Mark Crehan continues onboard with a 3lbs claim. Looks a straight fight between him and Thaki for the win.
(2) (3:55pm Gowran Park) BIG BABY BULL was 15/2, now 7/2
Without a victory in over a year and some fourteen races since, but looks another who can add to that today, with recent runs in mind. A second over C&D last month, saw them 2.25 lengths behind Nebo, with another second last time out Roscommon. Struggled in between those, at the Irish Cambridgeshire, but that can tougher ask, can be forgiven. Enjoys this trip and with Joey Sheridan claiming 3lbs, has plenty to like, with each-way claims the safer option
(3) (1:00pm Newmarket) MYSTIC WELLS was 8/1 now 9/2
George Boughey’s runner had a difficult debut, when finishing seventh of twelve in a Class 2 contest over 6f, at the July Meeting, before dropping down Class 5 level and impressively taking the win at Southwell (7f, a/w) last time out, finishing 3.75 lengths clear of Grey Belle. This mile trip should suit further, although a tougher contest and a penalty pose more questions here. Each-way claims once again.
(4) (3:50pm Newmarket) WIDAAD was 8/1/1 now 11/2
Only victory so far came here over 7f (good to soft), back in May, when 1.5 lengths clear of Biggles. Has a record since of 23325, with a second in the penultimate start at Chelmsford (1m, a/w), seeing them just a neck behind Further Measure. Today’s extended trip looks fine for another of George Boughey’s runners, with ground likely to suit too. Another whose appeal comes from each-way hopes.
(5) (3:15pm Newmarket) GREAT BEAR was 20/1, now 10/1
Last of three career victories, came at Killarney (2m, good) back in July, when beating No Thanks by a neck. Has since placed third at Bellewstown (2m 1f, good) last month, but in between those, a lack of consistency has been a problem, with Thomas Gibney’s runner, finishing last but two in a twenty-three runner contest last time out at Leopardstown. Will have a better chance in a race of this nature and a first appearance on UK soil is not easily ignored. Backed in well and places looks the key here.
