(1) (1:30pm Pontefract) QUARANTINI was 15/2, now 5/2
Had a couple of reasonable runs, before improving to finish fifth in a Class 2 Nursery at York (7f, good) last month, some 3.25 lengths adrift of the winner, even with difficulties on the run-in. Extends to a mile, while last time headgear is removed. Drops a pound in weight and can grab a career best result here.
(2) (4:20pm Pontefract) JAMES WATT was 11/1, now 9/2.
A few decent performances, earlier this Summer, including when third at Beverley (5f, good to firm) last month, finishing half a length behind Ginger Jam. Followed up with a poor eighth at Thirsk (6f, good to soft) and comes into the race needing to show his worth. Significantly dropped down the weights, which should give him an opportunity here.
(3) (1:00pm Pontefract) BURSCOUGH was 13/2, now 9/2
Made little impact in first career start, when eighth (of twelve) at Redcar (5f, soft), when losing position a couple of furlongs out and being unable to get back into the race. Pedigree suggests more to come and we should see a better performance with a clear run and the greenness out of the way. Each-way backing here.
(4) (7:00pm Kempton) PHUKET POWER was 14/1, now 7/1
Only career victory, came here over 7f, back in December, but he has not been able to continue on so far. Picked up a trio of second places, earlier in the year, including a Class 4 at Lingfield (7f, AW) in February, when just a neck behind Badri. Struggled last time out, when eighth on fast ground at Pontefract (6f, good to firm), with a return to the all-weather expected to suit. Solid each-way claims.
(5) (5:10pm Perth) CESAR COLLONGES was 23/1, now 9/1
A past winner, off a higher mark for Evan Williams, but after four successive poor runs (including being pulled-up three times), he makes debut for Laura Morgan, with hopes of a change of fortune. A bit of money has come for him on the markets, with each-way claims likely, but will need to pull the proverbial finger out, to prove his worth this afternoon.
