(1) (1:50pm Musselburgh) EVAS DIVA was 10/1, now 10/3
Sixteen race maiden, who has placed in half of those starts. After some disappointing runs, a fourth last time out at Fakenham (2m 7f, good to soft) saw plenty of improvement on debut for David Jeffreys. Looks likely that today’s shorter trip is more likely to suit, while a first time tongue-tie may help too.
(2) (4:55pm Lingfield) TAJDID was 22/1, now 9/2
Has not shown much in two career starts so far, with an eighth at Sailsbury, followed by a twelfth at Newbury (1m, heavy) last time out back in October. However being half brother to a French all-weather winner and also his sire producing a 23% success rate over the last five seasons at Lingfield, there is a sense that this could be a break out run for him. Backed in well, with each-way backing looking the safer option here.
(3) (5:15pm Kempton) LA ROCA DEL FUEGO was 28/1, now 7/1
Five race maiden, who has finished no better than sixth, way back in 2018. It was twenty-five months before he returned to action, when finishing behind all but one of ten runner field at Kempton (1m) in January, although a free run didn’t help towards the end. Drop to 6f may well help, but plenty to show here to justify any more than place backing.
(4) (5:45pm Kempton) SHYMAY was 20/1 now 15/2
An eleven race maiden, who ran well enough at Southwell last week, but found the 5f trip a little too quick on seasonal and stable debut. Extends to 6f this afternoon and can certainly build upon that last run. Stefano Cherchi claims 5lbs onboard and places can beckon here.
(5) (3:45pm Kempton) GOLDEN TOBOUGGAN was 33/1, now 15/2
Seven wins from sixteen points starts offers plenty of optimism, but when presented under rules two years ago, he refused to line-up and was withdrawn. Winner of a point race at Maisemore in October, which was only run in the last two years, which makes the money in for this 10-yo all the more interesting. Generally there isn’t much to shout about here, but with the backing seen, a place bet looks to have some legs.
