(1) (12:45pm Newbury) ERITAGE was 6/1, now 4/1
Three wins and two places in eight career starts so far, including a victory on return to action after an eight month break and wind surgery at Ludlow (1m 7f, good) in a debut handicap chase and winning by 8.5 lengths. Room for improvement over fences and looks a class act here.
(2) (2:00pm Doncaster) BARNAY was 8/1, now 9/2
Just a single career victory so far, but looked good towards the latter part of last season, when finishing second at Carlisle (2m 1f, soft) n February and there once again, over 2m 3f, soft a month later. Returned to action three weeks ago at Hexham (2m, heavy), placing sixth, but looked to have needed the run there and should improve this time around in what looks to be a competitive contest.
(3) (12:05pm Southwell) THE RETRIEVER was 10/1, now 11/2
A nineteen race maiden, however some of the best runs have come over C&D, including a successive seconds at the beginning of the year, including when beaten by a head in February. Has been a little inconsistent in recent outings, with the extension to a mile simply not working for Micky Hammond’s charge. Familiar territory and the optimal 7f trip offer his best hopes here and if he can at least repeat the form of his recent fourth at Newcastle (7f) last month, he should feature.
(4) (7:45pm Chelmsford) CHANNEL PACKET was 13/1, now 8/1
Ended a nine race losing streak, when taking the spoils at Newcastle (1m, a/w) back in January, before placing third at today’s venue, over a mile, just a week later, which may not have been ideal. Returns for first run of the season, but should find the 1m 2f trip more to his liking, with the main concern coming from that potential lack of sharpness, with places looking the better option.
(5) (12:55pm Doncaster) DORADO DOLLAR was 22/1, now 10/1
No win in twelve career starts, but did place third at Warwick (3m 2f, good) in September, albeit some 15 lengths adrift of the winner. Looks to have plenty of staying ability, but having finished some 40 plus lengths adrift at Huntingdon (3m 1f, good) on latest, it’s difficult to recommend anything more than a place finish, even with plenty of market attention.
