(1) (2:53pm Navan) BOIS DE CLAMART was 9/1, now 5/1
Impressed at the beginning of the year, with seconds at Punchestown (2m 4f, soft to heavy) in the January and here at Navan (2m 6f, heavy), before returning for seasonal debut at Tramore (2m 5f, yielding) in October, winning by 5.5 lengths that day. Unseated rider at Punchestown, twenty days ago, when going strong and runs of the same mark today, with plenty of chances of featuring.
(2) (3:45pm Chepstow) NOT SURE was 10/1, now 6/1
Bred to stay, but struggled on Ludlow’s (1m 7f, good) sharp course on debut three weeks ago, finishing fifth and some 9 lengths adrift. Clearly will improve here, with a more forgiven layout here, while the extension to 2m should also suit, having ran on well despite the result. Each-way potential.
(3) (2:05pm AIntree) HICONIC was 9/1, now 7/1
Sealed a four-timer when winning a juvenile hurdle at Newton Abbot (2m, good) back in August an she has finished 332 in her last three starts, including a second at Wetherby (2m, good to soft) at the end of October, with winner Duffle Coat winning a Grade 2 race since. Short break will have helped her be fresh for this contest and form looks good. Minor concern comes from being unraced on soft / heavy ground, so each-way backing looks the safer option.
(4) (12:05pm Sandown) ELHAM VALLEY was 13/1, now 7/1
Won a Class 4 contest at Goodwood (1m 3f, good to soft) back in August, but dropped off a little since, with a fifth and sixth place in Class 5 contests since.with the last of those at Redcar (1m 5f, soft) at the beginning of October. Has since been gelded and switched yards, with a debut over hurdles this afternoon maybe asking a little too much of him at this Class 2 level. However dam was a French hurdle winner, so this could be a great shout from connections.
(5) (3:15pm Aintree) MIGHT BITE was 18/1, now 10/1
Now a veteran at 11-yo, but still capable of putting a shift in for Nicky Henderson, returning for his first appearance of the season at Ascot in a Grade 3 contest and finishing fifth, some 19 lengths adrift of the winner. Comes in off a useful mark and if that last run has sharpened him up a bit, then he could feature.
