(1) (3:45pm Pontefract) SIX STRINGS was 4/1 now 6/4
Five career wins for this 7-yo, with the last of those back in June at Wetherby (1m, good to firm). Has since placed second in the last four runs, with the most recent, coming at Musselburgh (1m, good) ten days ago, when just a head behind Tommy G. Should once again be involved this afternoon. Backed in well this morning to around 6/4.
(2) (5:45pm Yarmouth) AUNT BETHANY was 10/1, now 3/1
Cotai Glory filly, out of Lilac Mist, who cost 55,000gns as a 2-yo. Half-sister to a few winners, including Galtee Mist (RPR 102) and So Hi Society (RPR 100). Plenty expected, especially with the booking of Ryan Moore, which is rare for Archie Watson’s yard. Backed in hugely overnight and plenty expected.
(3) (5:30pm Pontefract) MR ORANGE was 18/1 now 4/1
8-yo with ten wins and ten places in his career, although the last of those wins, came back in August of last year, over C&D (good to firm). A fifth of thirteen here in the penultimate start (6f, good) in a Class 5 contest offered some hopes of improvement, before struggling last time out at Catterick. Needs to show a vast improvement in this Class 4 contest, however a record of six wins and eight places in thirty starts at Pontefract, isn’t so readily ignored.
(4) (4:20pm Pontefract) HARRY GEORGE was 14/1 now 11/2
SIx wins in fifteen, with three in the last six races, including the sealing of a double at Musselburgh a year ago, when a neck clear of Aegeus. Has since been off with the recovery from a blood vessel bursting in his penultimate run at Redcar and subsequent wind op too. Clearly needed the run on return from nine months off at Newcastle, when seventh and 7.5 lengths adrift. However, a good mark today and that last outing should being more from him here. Plenty of money in the market for Brian Ellison’s charge.
(5) (1:35pm Bath) TISTAAHAL was 20/1, now 9/1
Dam, Alseera is a Group 3 winner, but this Marcus Tregoning runner didn’t do too much in debut run, when seventh of nine at Goodwood, a year ago. Absence could be a factor today, in terms of fitness, but he has seen some interest across the boards overnight. One to watch, but purely place chances in reality.
