(1) (3:00pm Bangor) GOOBINATOR was 5/2 now 7/4
Interesting runner, who struggled initially when attempting the switch to hurdling, but found redemptive form, when returning to the flat, winning at Haydock and York (both 2m), before an excellent fourth in the Cesarewitch at Newmarket (2m 2f, good) last month. The McCain yard is going very well at the moment and this return over flights, makes for compelling viewing, with this talented runner, likely to be a big player here. Brian Hughes is onboard and with the extra market backing, he has a big chance here.
(2) (1:40pm Exeter) LORD ACCORD was 3/1, now 15/8
This 6-yo, got off to a cracking start, with a double in the opening two runs at Fontwell, last Autumn, but had to wait until May, to return to the winners enclosure, when taking the spoils at Uttoxeter (2m 7f, good to soft) in a hurdle contest. Neil Mulholland’s runner returned to action last month and struck gold once again at Uttoxeter (2m 6f, good) to seal a double, with this chase victory, impressively beating Ask A Honey Bee by a length. Looks very strong here, with the 3lbs rise unlikely to make an impact, with market attention only cementing him as a strong selection this afternoon.
(3) (12:30pm Bangor) CRYPTO was 5/1 now 7/2
Winner on debut, back in March of 2019, but failed to replicate that, despite plenty of consistent runs over hurdles and going in as favourite in four of the last five races. It wasn’t until his latest and second chase attempt at Carlisle (2m 4f, heavy) that he added to his tally, when finishing 4 lengths clear of Uptown Harry back in March. Still has plenty to offer and should be improved on this seasonal bow. Charlie Deutsch continues onboard, with Yggdrasil the main threat, with each-way backing a good covering option
(4) (12:30pm) THE MACON LUGNATIC was 22/1 now 12/1
Runs in the same race as Crypto, this Ben Pauling runner has four wins in fifteen starts, including the latest back in May, at Ffos Las (2m 4f, good to soft), when beating Apache Creek by a head, with the pair, 8 lengths clear of the rest. He was pulled up on seasonal return / chase debut at Worcester after an early mistake, but has room for improvement here. Plenty of interest, but places look the most viable option
(5) (6:00pm Kempton) MOTAWAAFEQ was 20/1, now 12/1
Five wins in twenty-nine starts, with the last of those as recent as September, when taking the victory over C&D, beating Love Dreams and Super Over in a blanket finish. He disappointed at Chelmsford in latest, when seventh of eleven, again over the mile trip, weakening in the closing stages. He has a little to prove this evening off the back of that run and comes in as top weight too. There has been market attention, but places looks the most likely in this contest.
