Today’s top selections from the press and media, feature a pair of runners at both Cheltenham and Newmarket, along with an entry at Ripon. Check these out below, along with new customer sign-up offer at Betway.
1: THE GLANCING QUEEN (1:30pm Cheltenham) (4 votes)
Four wins in twelve starts, including the last of those in January, when 11 lengths clear at Bangor (2m, heavy). That has been followed by a second in a listed contest at Exeter in February, before last months fifth at the Festival in a Group 2 contest, when finishing the best of the British mares involved. Up in distance and in good form, which justifies odds on status.

2: SCHOLASTIC (2:05pm Cheltenham) (4 votes)
Five wins in twenty-five career starts, with the last of those in a flat handicap at Dundalk, in January. Latest hurdle contest, saw them finish third at Fairyhouse (2m, yielding) ten days ago in a Grade 2 contest, finishing 8.5 lengths adrift of the Fred Winter winner, Jef Kidder. Flat experience will be useful in today’s conditions and again looks the one to beat here.

3: JUMBY (1:50pm Newmarket) (3 votes)
Winner on debut at Ascot (7f, good) last July, before impressing on Listed debut, when fourth in the Denford Stakes at Newbury, just 2 lengths behind winner, Saint Lawrence a month later. Latest run, saw them finish third of five, again at Newbury (1m, good) when 1.5 lengths adrift. This strong runner may enjoy the first attempt at 6f here, but can ill-afford an issues in this competitive contest. Tentatively favourite with some bookmakers, with each-way backing arguably the safer option

4: LA BARROSA (3:35pm Newmarket) (2 votes)
Two from three so far, with an impressive Group 3 victory at Newmarket (7f, good) back in September, beating Dark Lion by a length. A fifth in the Group 1 Criterium International at St Cloud offers plenty of encouragement for today, despite tiring towards the end of that race back in October, with conditions not ideal. A better opportunity lays ahead here and can push favourite, Master Of The Seas all the way.

5: IMPULSIVE ONE (4:35pm Ripon) (2 votes)
Continual improver, who picked up a maiden win at Bath (1m, good to firm) back in September, finishing 3 lengths clear of Coul Kat, before stepping up in class the following month, when eighth at Newmarket (1m 2f, heavy) in a Class 2 future stayers contest, with the heavy ground simply unsuitable. Gelded since and wears a first time tongue tie here, with a return to form expected. Emperor Spirit is the main concern here.
