1: NUMBERS MAN 2:15pm Plumpton (7 votes)
Showed significantly more over fences than he had over hurdles last season when a promising second on chasing debut at Ffos Las (2m, good). He showed a game attitude that day having led and after a relatively tough spell, the Tizzard stable has started this season with a little more success. He is one of only two in the race to have have completed a start this season, so could also have a fitness advantage over his rivals.

2: ROBINSHILL 1:30pm Leicester (6 votes)
Had a very productive autumn last year, winning all three starts in October and November, two of those over hurdles. He struggled subsequently in the spring, but his last two runs after a layoff suggest he’ll be fully fit and ready to race here. He is also 1lb below his last winning mark over timber and given he is rated 18lbs higher over fences, he clearly has the talent to defy his current rating.

3: MR YEATS 2:45pm Plumpton (4 votes)
Carries a 7lb penalty for winning last Tuesday, but his profile certainly catches the eye. A run of ten winless starts since his debut ended at Wincanton in October and he swiftly backed that up at Huntingdon (2m4f, good) most recently. None of his rivals have won in a race in their last 36 combined starts, so he’s very much the only form horse in the contest. Milton Harris has a 35% strike rate in the last two weeks and looks to have found an excellent opportunity for his charge here.

4: UALLRIGHTHARRY 3:15pm Plumpton (3 votes)
A regular at the venue, Uallrightharry has only been seen sporadically in the last two calendar years. He was placed at 28/1 on his most recent start at Fontwell (3m2f, good to firm) and is a thorough stayer. He finished second on his only start over course and distance to the very useful Christmas In April and is unlikely to be outstayed.

5: ZABEEL CHAMPION 2:30pm Leicester (3 votes)
Rated in the 100s on the flat, he could prove a very exciting recruit to novice hurdling for Jonjo O’Neill. Was sold for 185,000 guineas to his new yard and turns out within a week of joining them, suggesting he has impressed with his work. If he takes to this new discipline, you’d imagine he’d be extremely difficult to beat.
