1: FINNEGAN’S GARDEN (2:53pm Lingfield) (4 votes)

Won two in a row at the back end of last season, winning at Lingfield (2m, heavy) in January, before following up with victory at Plumpton (2m, heavy) a month later, walloping the field by some 24 lengths. Returned to action, twenty-five days ago, placing fifth, with the higher mark a minor concern then and also here this afternoon. Won the race twelve months ago, but may need to show a little more in this very competitive contest.

2: TOMILY (5:15pm Newcastle) (4 Votes)

Winner of a Class 6 contest some thirteen months ago, but has struggled since in Class 4 contests, including on seasonal return over C&D, twenty-days ago, when thirteenth, however a fortnight later, he was a 100/1 third placed finisher over C&D in latest, missing out by half a length to Astro Jakk, having made most of the running. Down in weights today and has a genuine chance with the drop to Class 5 level.

3: GETARIVER (1:00pm Southwell) (3 Votes)

Won a bumper at Wolverhampton back in February, before making chase debut at Uttoxeter (1m 7f, good) in September, finishing last of five and some 35 lengths adrift of Fusil Raffles. Returned to hurdles in last two runs, finishing second at Stratford (2m, good) and then third in latest at Fakenham (2m, good), when elevating in class, a fortnight ago. Makes handicap chase debut this afternoon and is off a decent enough mark to make a strong impression

4: LOVE OF ZOFFANY (4:15pm Newcastle) (3 Votes)

Constant improvement in four career runs so far, culminating in a victory, last time out at Wolverhampton (7f, a/w), when 0.75 lengths clear of Bomb Squad and that form was boosted by third placed Arthur’s Angel winning later on. Rises 5lbs for today’s contest, but likely to improve further and looks a strong selection here.

5: HANG TOUGH (1:50pm Lingfield) (2 Votes)

Nine career runs and has picked up two wins in the last four trips, winning at Warwick (3m 2f, heavy) in February and most recently, over C&D (soft) some three weeks ago, when half a length ahead of Don Herbager on chase debut. Rises 5lbs this afternoon, which looks reasonable and capable of going close once more.
