Today’s top selections from the press and media, feature a trio of runners from Perth, along with entries at Catterick and Ludlow. Check these out below, along with new customer sign-up offer at Betway.
1: PEUR DE RIEN (1:55pm Perth) (3 votes)
Two wins in fourteen starts, with both coming on good ground, including last time out at Kempton (3m, good), when 3.75 lengths clear of Big Difference in a five runner contest. Placed second in penultimate start over today’s good to soft at Doncaster and with Oliver Sherwood’s yard in strong form lately, this 8-yo looks a genuine contender here.

2: STONER’S CHOICE (2:30pm Perth) (2 votes)
Four wins in five starts, including a treble secured at Market Rasen (2m 2f, good) back in November. Returned after a three month break to places second, again at Market Rasen (2m 4f, soft), before getting back to winning ways, with victory at Ascot (2m 5f, good) last month, 6 lengths clear of Bells Of Peterboro. Extended trip to 2m 7f looks within his comfort zone and on recent form, clearly looks the one to beat.

3: TINKERS HILL TOMMY (2:40pm Ludlow) (2 votes)
One victory in nine, before bagging a double in last couple of runs. The first of those came at Hereford (3m 1f, soft) in February, when 17 lengths clear, before sealing the two timer at Newbury (2m 7f, good to soft), when 5.5 lengths clear of Valadom. Has not raced on good ground sine 2017, due to an interrupted career, but still looks the favourite, even with a 7lbs rise too. Expect a strong performance from Rebecca Curtis’s runner.

4: STREAK LIGHTNING (2:50pm Catterick) (2 votes)
Three wins in seven starts for Mark Johnston’s runner, including a double at Wolverhampton and Ripon last Summer. Added to that list at Newcastle (7f, a/w) in his penultimate starts back in January, when 1.5 lengths clear of Danielsflyer. Stays at 7f today, although will expect a much sterner test this time around, with Queen’s Sargent the main threat to him taking the spoils
(The Sun On Sunday, Sirius. Yorkshire Post, The Duke)
5: CALLIOPE (4:10pm Perth) (2 votes)
Five wins and seventeen places in fifty career starts for Dianne Sayers’ runner, with the last of those victories coming at Kelso (2m 2f, good) back in September, when a length ahead of Spin The Coin. Has placed third in three of the last five runs since then, including in the latest also at Kelso (2m 2f, good), when 5.5 lengths off the winner in a Class 4 contest. Large price may not put off too many and with some decent form overall, each-way backers will fancy their chances.
