1: MINISTER FOR MAGIC (6:30pm Kempton) (3 Votes)
Caused a shock when running out a 50/1 winner of a Killarney maiden on debut for previous connections. Subsequently picked up for 50,000 guineas at the December sales and she made a promising start to life for these connections when runner-up over 1m4f here earlier this month. Now starts life in handicaps and there’s every chance that a mark of 81 underestimates her.

2: AUCUNRISQUE (3:50pm Wincanton) (3 Votes)
Has produced progressive RPR’s in his six starts to date, justifying prohibitive odds in a Plumpton novice hurdle last time out. The runner-up has since franked that form and he looks open to further improvement now sent handicapping for the first time, particularly off a mark of 117 – set to be raised 5lb.

3: SILASTAR (1:30pm Lingfield) (2 Votes)
Bred in the purple being from Sea The Stars out of a Group 1 winner in Silasol. Winner in France for Carlos Laffon-Parias last year and picked up for €17,000 by current connections. Showed little in his first two starts for the yard but improved when a 3l fifth at Chelmsford last month. Drop in grade and step up in trip look pluses on that evidence.

4: MINELLA PLUS (3:10pm Catterick) (2 Votes)
Progressive sort who is 3-3 since fitted with a hood, scoring on handicap debut at Musselburgh last time out. Has been raised 5lb for that but this doesn’t look the strongest of races and he was a course and distance winner on his penultimate outing, so this track and trip pose no issues.

5: KNICKERBOCKERGLORY (3:50pm Wincanton) (2 Votes)
Ludlow bumper winner for Alastair Ralph and came good at the third attempt for current connections when justifying odds of 8/11 at Taunton earlier this month. That race admittedly didn’t take a great deal of winning but it was still impressive the way in which he pulled clear of the remainder of the field and an opening mark of 122 looks well within reach.
