Today’s top selections from the press and media come in the form of runners at Newton Abbot, Newcastle and Roscommon. Check them out below, alongside an exclusive William Hill offer, which provides new customers with £40 in free bets.
1: HOOPER (3:42pm Newton Abbot) (3 Votes)
5yo with an excellent career record of six wins from twelve starts. Likely would have enhanced that but for unseating his rider at the final fence at Stratford on last month’s chase debut. Jumped out to his left there, so this tight left-handed track should suit, and Nico de Boinville is back in the saddle. Rates as the one to beat on these terms.
888Sport, Steve Mullington. Racing Post, The Punt. Daily Express, The Scout.
2: MICK PASTOR (4:12pm Newton Abbot) (2 Votes)
Slow to come to hand over these obstacles but has clearly benefitted from wind surgery, supplementing a Worcester victory when landing a three-runner novice chase at Stratford in June. Absent since but goes well fresh and makes his return in yet another small field. Mark of 140 unlikely to prove beyond him in this sort of company.
Sheffield Star, Fortunatus. Yorkshire Evening Post, Lee Sobot.
3: BOLD ENOUGH (3:35pm Roscommon) (2 Votes)
Useful hurdler whose form has improved since switched to the larger obstacles, building on a Wexford novice win when going in over course and distance in June. RPR’s suggest he bettered that run in defeat when third in a Grade 3 at Galway last time. Same grade here but possibly a slightly weaker contest, and the track clearly holds no fears.
Irish Herald, Ian Gaughran. Racing TV, The Score.
4: COOL DANDY (8:00pm Newcastle) (1 Vote)
Gained just her second career success when scoring in impressive fashion over course and distance on Friday. Has a six-pound penalty to contend with here, but three-pound claimer Billy Garrity negates half of that additional weight, and she remains open to improvement on an artificial surface.
Scottish Sun, Jim Delahunt.
5: CHICHEN ITZA (5:30pm Newcastle) (1 Vote)
Half-sister to a couple of pattern-class performers and from the family of the likes of Ghaiyyath and Zhukova. Made a promising debut when staying-on for fourth at Leicester earlier this month. Should have learnt plenty for that initial experience and her powerful yard has an exceptional record (4-8) with their 2yos here in recent seasons.
Racing Post, Newmarket.
