Today’s top selections from the press and media feature all five entries from the opening day of the AIntree Festival. Check these out below and a couple of excellent new customer, sign-up bonuses too!.
1: CLONDAW CASTLE (2:50pm Aintree) (3 votes)
In strong form, with three wins and three places in the last six starts, winning the Grade 3 - Close Brothers Chase at Kempton last time out, when 2 lengths clear of Erick Le Rouge in February, which was his first run over 3m. Steps up to 3m 2f today and faces a tough challenge, but looks capable and has room for more improvement. Should be in the hunt.

2: JASON THE MILITANT (3:25pm Aintree) (3 votes)
Three wins in the last five runs, with the latest coming last time out at Fairyhouse (2m, soft) in the Grade 3 - Red MIlls Trial Hurdle back in February, when 7.5 lengths clear of Petit Mouchoir. He finished just half a length behind race rival Abacadabras in the Morgana Hurdle prior to that race and this looks to be another close call between these two and McFabulous, with Henry De Bromhead’s charge potentially having more to come over this 2m 4f trip.

3: SOME MAN (4:05pm Aintree) (2 votes)
Just nine career starts, but picked up a second career win, last time out at Down Royal (2m 3f, yielding), finishing 12 lengths clear of Complete Sizing and a further 12 lengths clear of the rest. Has a genuine chance of going close based off of that run, however the 35 lengths given to favourite Billaway back in December, does add a degree of difficulty. Each-way claims probably suit.
(Scottish Sun, Jim Delahunt. Irish Daily Star, Brian Flanagan)
4: THE KING OF MAY (4:40pm Aintree) (2 votes)
Last victory came back in January of 2020 at Sedgefield (2m, soft), but he has been in good from since then, bagging a couple of seconds in that time, including in his penultimate start at Wetherby (1m 7f, heavy), when 3 lengths behind Sao, who features here. Despite a large price, there are a few that fancy him, including our very own Andrew Mount.
(Racing and Football Outlook, Andrew Mount. Morning Star, Farringdon)
5: ELLE EST BELLE (5:15pm Aintree) (1 votes)
Two victories in opening two starts, including on debut at AIntree (2m, soft) in a bumper back in October. Repeated the feat in a listed bumper at Cheltenham a month later, before a third in the Champion Bumper at the Festival last month, some 7 lengths behind Sir Gerhard. Looks to be on of the leading candidates here, although Eileendover will take some beating.
