Today’s top selections from the press and media feature four runners at Haydock, including a pair of challengers in the Peter Marsh Chase (2:40pm) that the experts cannot split, while a single selection at Ascot makes up Saturday’s quintet of tips. So check out the top five most popular newspaper tips below, along with the best odds available.
1: THEBANNERKINGREBEL (2:05pm Haydock) (4 Votes)
Missed out on a treble at Wetherby previous to last race, when falling at the last. However he bouncing back to take the spoils over course and distance in November. Capable on both good and soft ground, so it will be interesting to see how he takes to heavier conditions, but has a strong opportunity to continue the excellent run of form.

2: HAPPY DIVA (3:00pm Ascot) (4 Votes)
Is the epitome of consistency when finishing races, having astonishingly placed in the first three each time since February 2017, a run of twenty races, with just two non-finishes. Won the Grade 3 Handicap Chase at Cheltenham in November, and followed on with a second at Doncaster. 6lbs heavier than the Cheltenham race, but expected to be in the mix once again.

3: DEFINITLY RED (2:40pm Haydock) (3 Votes)
Well priced considering his abilities over heavy conditions, Winner of Grade 2 races including the Many Clouds Chase back in thirteen months ago. Returned to action in November, finishing fourth at Wetherby, before a fourth in the Becher Chase, which could have been better, having been hampered at the Canal Turn. On top form and in these conditions, has a strong say this afternoon.

4: MIDNIGHT TUNE (2:40pm Haydock) (3 Votes)
This mare has been in great form so far this season, with a second at Fontwell, followed by victories at Uttoxeter over 3m 2f in heavy conditions and at Exeter over 2m 1f, also in testing conditions. Has the ability, but jump in class could be a factor.

5: TAKINGRISKS (4:15pm Haydock) (2 Votes)
Winner of the Scottish Grand National at Ayr back in April, while in two races so far this season, he has finished fifth at Ayr, before taking the victory at Newcastle last time out as a 20/1 winner in heavy conditions. Has solid hopes and looks tempting for each-way backers.
