1: NEW LONDON (1:50pm Newmarket) (4 votes)
Twice a winner here over C&D, including on return to action in April, when 2.25 lengths clear of Aldous Huxley. Extended to 1m 4f in the Chester Vase and disappointed when 4/11 favourite, with no answer to Changingoftheguard, who eased to a 6.5 length win. Expected to bounce back this afternoon, with Yonafis leading the challengers.

2. SUMMER’S KNIGHT (3:00pm Newmarket) (4 votes)
Five wins in eight starts last year, including a victory in a Class 2 – Handicap at Haydock (1m 6f, good to firm) in September, when 5.5 lengths ahead of Cardano. Looked to have needed the run, when fifth of six on return, over 1m 6f here at Newmarket, before improving to place fifth of twenty in the Northumberland Plate (2m, a/w) at Newcastle, some 3.5 lengths behind Trueshan. Needs to continue the improved runs here today and has each-way appeal at least.

3. MAYLANDSEA (2:25pm Newmarket) (3 votes)
Winner on debut in May, when 2.5 lengths clear of Keep Bidding at Nottingham (5f, good), before stepping up to Group 2 level and placing second in the Queen Mary Stakes at Ascot (5f, good to firm) last month, when just 1.75 lengths behind Dramatised. Expected to stay 6f this afternoon and based on that latest run, is expected to be right in the mix for the victory

4. FLOTUS (2:40pm York) (3 votes)
Two career wins in nine starts, including the Listed – Old Trophy Stakes at Ripon (6f, good) back in August of last year. She stepped up further still in grade, when finishing second in the Cheveley Park Stakes, missing out by a length to Tenebrism here, last September and has looked to be in strong form this season, placing second in the Listed – Cecil Frail and third in the Group 1 – Commonwealth Cup. Looks suited to the course here at York and has big claims.

5. ROZALIA (9:00pm Chester) (2 votes)
Consistent sort for James Fanshawe, who comes in looking for a hat-trick, having followed the victory at Lingfield (1m 3f, good), with a win at Goodwood (1m 4f, good) in her latest, beating Kingsofthemidlands by 1.5 lengths. Has stamina to prove at 2m here this evening, with Mellow Magic the main concern. Each-way backing may be the safer option, if pricing allows.
