Has placed 2121 in four career starts so far, with George Scott’s talented gelding, winning the latest at Sandown (5f, good) three weeks ago in the Listed – Dragon Stakes, beating Cuban Mistress by 2.5 lengths. Prior to that, he missed out by a neck to Little Big Bear in the Windsor Castle Stakes and overall looks the form pick here. Plenty of expectation and should be right in amongst the challengers.

2. SEA SPEEDWELL (4:10 Goodwood) (3 votes)

This Sea The Stars filly looked strong at the end of last year, picking up a third on debut at Kempton (1m, a/w) in November, before grabbing a maiden victory over the same C&D, a month later, when 1.75 lengths ahead of Santa Florentina. She returned from a 218 day break to place second at Leicester (1m 2f, good to firm) on her first turf start, 0.75 lengths behind Oriole, with this Willie Haggas charge expected to progress, now handicapping. Narrow favourite here and Tom Marquand returns to ride. Strong claims overall

3. SOULCOMBE (1:50pm Goodwood) (2 votes)

Has shown a big improvement since being gelded and is two for two so far, winning at Haydock (1m 3f, soft) four weeks ago, before making it a double last time out at Ascot (1m 4f, good to firm), when stepping up in level, finishing 1.5 lengths clear of race rival, Teumessias Fox. This is a big step up again, but this son of Frankel can show more in this contest.

4. THE PLATINUM QUEEN (4.45pm Goodwood) (2 votes)

Winner on debut at Ripon (5f, good) last month, before a creditable thirteenth of twenty-one in the Group 2 – Queen Mary Stakes a fortnight later. Richard Fahey brought her back to somewhat calmer waters, to take the spoils last time out at York (5f, good to firm), in a Class 2 – Novices Stakes, impressively beating Yahsat by 3.25 lengths, just nineteen days ago. She goes in as big favourite here and should add another victory to her already impressive CV here.

5. THE ATTORNEY (5:20pm Goodwood) (2 votes)

Three wins in sixteen starts overall and has been strong so far this season, placing second here over C&D last month, when just a neck behind The Turpinator and then second again at Newcastle (7f, a/w) in hi8s penultimate start, when a length adrift of Rhythm Master. A solid fifth in the Bunbury Cup last time out at Newmarket see’s him ticking over nicely and this colt goes in as narrow market leader, in what is a very competitive contest.
