1: DREAMCASING (4:50pm Catterick) (6 votes)

Made a couple of useful runs at the end of last year, including a fifth of ten at Newcastle (1m, a/w), before form dropped off significantly earlier this year, beating just one other in two races. However, Grant Tuer’s charge returned from a 120 day break and justified market attention, to place second on turf debut at Thirsk (6f, good), finishing a length behind Brazen Idol. Comes in off the same mark this afternoon and has strong claims.

2. CALL MY BLUFF (6:45pm Kempton) (3 votes)

Lightly race over the last couple of seasons, but has picked up all five victories in the last nine starts, including the sealing of a double at Chester a year ago. This gelding ended last season with a second at Ascot in the Class 2 Shergar Cup for Stayers back in August and returned from a 272 day break to place third at Chester (2m 2f, good) in May, 1.75 lengths adrift of winner, Bellatrixsa. Previous C&D winner and expected to push on, now with some fitness under his belt.

3. WHAT A DUDE (3:20pm Catterick) (2 votes)

Showed relatively little under Mick Channon until winning a claiming stakes at Redcar (7f, good to firm) last month, when 3 lengths clear of Lily In The Jungle. Has since been claimed for £6,000 and makes debut for Brian Ellison in what will also be a first time nursery contest. Urban Sprawl is the favourite here, but a similar run to last time, could see him challenge for the spoils.

4. TRIBUNA UFFIZI (5:35pm Bath) (2 votes)

Has looked very strong since returning to turf, off the back of a 100 day break, winning at Windsor (1m 3f, good to firm) last month, before missing out on a double by a nose at Leicester (1m 4f, good to firm), just ten days later. He then bounced back at Bath (1m 3f, good), a further six days later, when taking the spoils, some 1.5 lengths ahead of Cavendish. A further 3lbs rise looks within his limits here and a continuation of this fine run, looks very possible.

(The Guardian. The Star, Jason Heavey)

5. GOLDEN LYRA (6:15pm Kempton) (2 votes)

Willie Haggas’s runner impressed on her sole 2-yo run, when taking the victory at Newmarket (7f, good) back in October, some 5 lengths clear of Centrallia. After 222 days away from the track, she returned to action at Newbury (1m 2f, good to soft) in the Listed – Abingdon Stakes, finishing second, a length behind Stay Alert. Big odds on favourite here on the drop back to Class 3 level this evening.
