Race 1 (1:00pm) CLIPSHAM TIGER
Three wins in twenty-two starts, with the last of those back in November 2019. Form has been generally poor, until recently, with successive third placed finishes at Chelmsford (1m 2f, a/w) and Wolverhampton (1m 1f, a/w), just six days ago, which could hae yielded a better outcome, in a messy finish. George Rooke claims 3lbs and should be in the hut this afternoon.
Race 2 (1:35pm) PASSION AND GLORY
Their last win came back in 2019 at [Doncaster], beating Dark Lochnagar by a neck. Has been off for well over a year and been gelded too, but so far hasn't quite kicked-on as expected in two starts at Meydan, tending to pull hard. This is less demanding and he should dominate today's race.
Race 3 (2:10pm) ROUGE ET NOIR
Dabirsim filly, out of Puzzler, who cost 20,000gns as a yearling. Half-sister to Liberated Lad, who won here on 1m 2f in the Winter. Charlie Fellowes record with juveniles isn’t especially great (13-169 over last five seasons), but a bit of market interest warrants a closer look. Should place at very least
Race 4 (2:45pm) ADAAY IN ASIA
Solid performances in two starts so far, placing third on debut here (5f, a/w) back in April, before placing fourth at Kempton (6f, a/w) last month, when 6.25 lengths adrift of the winner. She shaped up well in both runs and can continue to improve this afternoon. Oisin Murphy rides today and has strong claims.
Race 5 (3:20pm) MAMILLIUS
Three wins and two seconds in the last six starts, including victory last time out at Brighton, when beating Typhoon Ten by a nose. Has won here twice before and with a 1lb rise looks to have another great chance
Race 6 (3:50pm) YAGAN
Little to write home about in four runs last season, but has come on leaps and bounds, winning all three runs since returning to action, taking the spoils at Yarmouth (1m 3f, good), Bath (1m 6f, good to firm) and most recently at Lingfield (1m 4f, a/w), when half a length ahead of Keeper. Takes on longest trip so far and even amongst older horses, he should have too much here.
