Race 1 (1:45pm) MINELLA TRUMP

Comes into this contest off the back of a four-timer at Perth, with the last of those victories coming twenty-four days ago (2m 4f, good to soft), when 3 lengths clear of Pay The Piper, with a further 4 lengths to the rest. The absence of stablemate, Minella Drama gives him the upper hand in this contest and anything less than a victory would arguably be a surprise.

Race 2 (2:20pm) GREAT COMMISSION

Made a relatively unspectacular start, when last but one at Hamilton back in August, but showed a marked improvement to finish third of seven at Beverley (1m 1f, soft) last month, as a 100/1 shot, just half a length adrift of winner, Victory Star. Makes hurdle debut here and looks very likely to build upon that previous run, with Genuflux the main concern.

Race 3 (2:55pm) ZUCKERBERG

A previous winner in France, but has now gone thirteen races on UK shores without a win for Jennie Candish. He has been on the fringes of the places in recent starts, including when third at Southwell (2m 4f, good) last time out, when a mistake at the last saw them end up 9.5 lengths adrift of the winner, when they could have finished at least second that day. Not seen since that July outing and the drop in grade for this contest, puts them right in the mix for the win.

Race 4 (3:30pm) MONTANNA

Useful performer, who has placed or better in around half of his runs, winning six times overall. Won a four runner contest here at Sedgefield (3m 2f, good) in August, before a second place finish at Uttoxeter (3m 2f, good), last month, when elevating to Class 3 level. Strong claims and should find the 3m 5f extended trip to his liking here.

Race 5 (4:05pm) MINELLA PLUS

Strong performances in opening two runs so far, placing third on debut at Stratford (2m good) in a Bumper contest, finishing 4.5 lengths behind Strensham Court at the beginning of last month. Donald McCain Jnr’s runner continued to show his ability, when following up with a second at Bangor eighteen days ago, missing out by 6.5 lengths to Nicky Henderson favourite, At Poets Cross. Makes hurdle debut here and has to be respected as one of the main contenders.

Race 6 (4:30pm) BEACH BREAK

Winner of this very race, off of 2lbs higher last year, but has failed to find the winners enclosure in nine runs since, although he has placed second on several occasions, including on his penultimate start over C&D (good) back in August, when 1.75 lengths adrift of The Blame Game. Ran poorly, last time out at Kelso, but that can be overlooked on return to a venue he clearly enjoys, having picked up a win and two places in the four visits here. Strong claims to retain the trophy.
