Tote Placepot Selections For Taunton (Tuesday 17th March)

tote placepot

The Tote’s excellent Placepot bet offers a chance for punters to win big on multiples, with relatively small stakes. Check out our six selections for today’s Tote Placepot at Taunton this afternoon.

Race 1 (2.15pm) MILLE SUSSURRI

Debut third at Ffos Las, before a poor performance at Exeter in January in an NH Flat race. Made hurdles debut over the same course, when third a fortnight ago in a Class 4 outing. Drops down a level this afternoon and looks the one to beat.

Race 2 (2:50pm) VINNIE’S GETAWAY

All three runs over rules have come on good ground, but picked up a 121 in three starts over the Summer, with the last of those on hurdles debut when odds on favourite at Stratford. Extends to 2m 3f for the first time today and races on soft for the first time. Despite those potential question marks, has strong hopes amongst an average field.

Race 3 (3:25pm HOLLYWOOD KEN

Winner of several handicap hurdles almost two years ago, but has failed to ignite since with disappointing performances until this year. Visible improvement was seen when fourth at Plumpton, before a third at [Warwick(https://gg.co.uk/racing/22-jan-2020/warwick-1615) last time out backed up his turn of form. Makes chase debut this afternoon, but no reason to doubt abilities over fences. Solid chance all around.

Race 4 (4:00pm) PLAYA BLANCA

Looking to make it a hat-trick of wins, after successes at Warwick nine days ago, on second run after wind surgery and then by 24 lengths on Sunday at Market Rasen. A third race in quick succession could dampen potency here, but still looks the runner to beat.

Has been in good form overall, with a win and two seconds in last four starts. The victory came last time out at Wincanton (3m 1f), where the added cheek-piece to his usual tongue-tie seemed to really help, as he won by 5 lengths. Rises 10lbs from that victory, which makes things somewhat tougher, but will no doubt feature.

Race 6 (5:10pm) AMBION HILL

One place finish in six outings, but that came in a competitive race at Chestow (2m, heavy) in January. Followed on with a seventh of nine in a Class 3 over 2m 3f, but returns to more familiar territory this afternoon, which should see a better performance.
