The Tote’s excellent Placepot bet offers a chance for punters to win big on multiples, with relatively small stakes. Check out our selections for Day 6 of the Galway Festival on Saturday, with a couple of alternatives thrown in to extend your permutations. Plus how to claim a risk free £10 bet at Tote.
Race 1 (2:35pm) HMS SEAHORSE
Just the one run for this son of Galileo, finishing fourth in a maiden at Curragh a fortnight ago, 5.5 lengths off the winner, but 2.25 clear of race rival Snowy Owl. Looks to have a lot more to come for Aidan O’Brien and it will be interesting to see how he does against stablemate, Ontario.
Race 2 (3:10pm) CASTEL GANDOLFO
Jessica Harrington’s charge made a strong debut, when second at Gowran Park last month on good ground, before struggling with heavy conditions at Roscommon, twenty-five days ago. That latest is best ignored and it would be surprisingly to see him struggle here. Every chance of getting in the mix.
Alternative Selection: CHIMERIC
Race 3 (3:45pm) YAFORDADOE
Picked up consecutive victories last October, including here over 7f on soft to heavy ground. A third place over similar conditions in January at Punchestown may well be concerning to backers, but a maiden hurdle win at Cork eight days ago on yielding does at least show versatility. Ground may quicken by the race start, but with jockey Andrew Slattery’s 3lbs claim, he has a good chance.
Alternative Selection: MARY SALOME
Race 4 (4:15pm) TALKING TOUGH
Without a win in his first twelve starts, before picking up a second win in five, here over 7f on Monday, beating race rival Soaring Monarch by 0.75 lengths. Rises 10lbs for this mile trip, (rival rises 7lbs), but this Michael Mulvaney trained runner, should still have plenty on the tank to go close, in what could easily be a repeat battle between the two.
Race 5 (4:45pm) NO PATIENCE
Solid fourth on debut at Fairyhouse (6f good to firm), last month and impressed further, when second at Bellewstown a month ago (yielding), when making all, until the closing stages, missing out by 0.5 lengths to Sanpraeterea. Plenty more to come and has a real opportunity in this well contested race.
Race 6 (5:15pm) TUDOR CITY
Won the Galway Hurdle last year, when beating Due Reward by 0.5 lengths, but has not been able to replicate that, when seventh in the latest edition on Thursday](https://gg.co.uk/racing/30-jul-2020/galway-1845), being impeded and unable to make much of an impression.. Drop to 1m 4f may invigorate his chances here, and if he can stay out of trouble, he should improve from that run a couple of days ago. Solid claims.
Alternative Selection: PRINCESS ZOE
