Race 1 (1:50pm) SMART CHAMPION

Shown plenty of ability over this distance, including this very race last year, when third and just a length off the winner, off a 6lbs higher mark. Recent form has been useful, including a third over 2m here at Goodwood last month. Strong claims on previous form and the extra 5lbs claim for Saffie Osborne is difficult to ignore.

Race 2 (2:25pm) BAAEED

Willie Haggas’s charge is currently three from three, with a couple of Class 4 wins, followed by victory in the listed Sir Henry Cecil Stakes at Newmarket (1m, good to firm), when 4 lengths clear of Maximal. Leads the way in the markets and even though he is unraced on soft/heavy ground, it should make little difference this afternoon

Race 3 (3:00pm) RHOSCOLYN

Three victories in seven starts for David O’Meara, since switching from Charlie Hills yard, including the sealing of a hat-trick at Epsom (7f, good to soft) last June, when 4 lengths clear of Shelir. Has since placed sixth in a listed contest at Chester, before a second at Pontefract (1m, good to firm) in another listed contest, on latest run just five days ago. More to offer here and should feature.

Race 4 [3:35pm) BATTAASH

Little to say about this superstar runner. Has won this contest for the past four editions, alongside a couple of Nunthorpe wins. Returned for seasonal debut in the King’s Stand at Royal Ascot (5f, good to firm), getting upfront a little earlier than expected and finishing fourth. Sharper for th trip and acts on soft ground as shown when winning this contest in 2017.

Race 5 (4:10pm) EUCHEN GLEN

In fine form, with four wins in the last seven starts, including a double last Autumn, over soft/heavy ground. Won the Group 3 Brigadier Gerard at Sandown (1m 1f) back in May, again on soft ground, while the most recent trip, saw them pick up a listed victory again at Sandown (1m 1f, good) four weeks ago. One of the main contenders in this contest.

Race 6 (4:45pm) MAYBURY

Four race maiden, who picked up a third in the Woodcote at Epsom (6f, good) last month, 4 lengths adrift of Oscular. Finished fifth in latest at Epsom (6f, good to soft) in a nursery contest, three weeks ago, having clipped heels and stumbled some 4f out. Potential for further improvement and should be involved as they head for home.
